With the holiday season around the corner, former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. talked about the struggles he has had with buying jewelry for his wife, Amy. In a recent episode of the "Dale Jr. Download" podcast, he said that he often missed the mark while trying to pick out the perfect gift.
Dale Jr. shared that he used to search the internet for jewelry he thought Amy would like.
"In the past, I heard that, and I was like, 'Okay, I will look. I myself will go and scour the web, and I will find something that I like, and I will get that for her, and she will like it.' That was the problem," Earnhardt Jr. said (52:08).
The couple, who married in 2016, now have a better understanding of each other’s preferences.
"Show me the way. We'll see if we can make this happen," he added (52:30).
Earnhardt Jr. met Amy in Florida while she was working on designing Dale's house and they got engaged in 2015. The couple now have two daughters, Isla and Nicole.
Dale Jr. and Amy launched High Rock Vodka in collaboration with Sugarlands Distilling Company in 2022. They also appeared on the reality show Renovation Realities: Dale Jr. & Amy in 2018.
"It's tough, man" - Dale Earnhardt Jr. on tux fitting and getting back into shape
In the same episode, Dale Earnhardt Jr. shared that he started eating healthier and tracked his food last month to lose some weight.
"A month ago, I had been kind of lazy with what I was eating, and I've got like a... I got to a weight where, when I get to that point, I'm like, 'All right, time out, we're going to work on this.'..And so, for the last month, I've been diligently trying to eat better," Earnhardt Jr. said (40:40).
He also talked about wearing a tux once a year and explained why it is hard to refit.
"I'm going to wear a tux once a year, likely once a year, okay? And man, you know, your body changes so much over the course of a year, right? ..They tailor it to fit you perfectly, really, really close, slim margins, right? So, you can't change...You try to put that tux back on, and it’s like, 'Yeah, not fitting today.' It's tough, man," he added (41:20).
Amy in response suggested trying on the tux a week before an event to avoid the disappointment of it not fitting.
