NASCAR driver Alex Bowman enjoyed a double victory after coming out on top in the tough Chicago Street race. The 31-year-old also broke an 80-race winless streak with his impressive triumph at the Grant Park 165.
Bowman, the Sprint car racing team owner and full-time driver for Hendrick Motorsports, spoke about his celebrations during a recent interview with motorsports radio show, SpeedFreaks.
Bowman is enjoying a strong season, recovering brilliantly from setbacks suffered in previous NASCAR campaigns. He came close to another win at Daytona, and has achieved nine top-ten finishes this year.
When asked about the relief of not facing questions about bourbon or being naked on the floor he said:
"I mean I feel like there's always room to talk about either of those."
Driving the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, Bowman also took an important step in his recovery from recent injuries.
"I felt like I won twice in one night just by waking up in bed," Bowman added.

Previously popular for starting from the front row in six consecutive Daytona 500 races from 2018 to 2023, Alex Bowman has made a strong return in 2024 with his new crew chief, Blake Harris.
Despite past issues with concussion and back trouble, he came out on top in a tough street race. He made a smart move by using wet tires to hold off Tyler Reddick, who was on faster slicks.
Alex Bowman's season so far in 2024
Alex Bowman has had a remarkable season so far. At the start of the year, he came in second at the Daytona 500, just behind his teammate William Byron.
Despite missing out on that victory, Bowman has earned multiple top-ten finishes. Having not won a race since 2022, he finally broke an 80-race winless streak by coming out on top in the Chicago street race earlier this month, and joined others, like teammate Chase Elliott, in ending long droughts.
Coming in third place at Pocono Raceway this past Sunday, Bowman found it "hard to be satisfied" with how he did. He and his team are now in the NASCAR Playoffs, currently tenth in the standings.
As Bowman heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway this Sunday, he is keen to continue his progress.
"I think there are certainly still things we need to do to be better, things I need to do to be better, and improvements needed across the team. You can always improve, but at least we're pointed in the right direction. It's been a good two weeks for us, and we're heading to a really historic racetrack next week that means a lot to me personally. Hopefully, we can get the job done there," he said.
