Team Penske driver Joey Logano elaborated on how he strives to maintain a healthy work-life balance while navigating the hectic NASCAR schedule. Logano had previously stated that he doesn't answer phone calls while at home but clarified that he does reply to his bossman, Roger Penske.
In an episode of Kevin Harvick's Happy Hour podcast, Logano described his tactics to maintain a good work-life balance. Being a father to three kids, the #22 Penske driver said that he doesn't answer his phone calls while at home, completely dedicating his time to his family.
Fox Sports reporter Bob Pockrass recently caught up with Joey Logano and asked the 2x NASCAR Cup champion to elaborate on how he manages to strike a balance between racing and his family. Logano clarified that he does reply to team boss, Roger Penske, but tries to cut down on other stuff whenever he is at home.
The #22 Team Penske Ford driver said:
"My phone is on, don't get me wrong, I don't answer if it's something that can be pushed to tomorrow. Because I just want to be a 100% all the time. If Roger [Penske] calls, I answer... I answer it for sure."
"If you are gonna do this for a long time you have to find balance to do it correctly. If you're gonna give your 100% to your job, you have to give a 100% at home too. Because if things aren't right at home, you probably aren't gonna be your best at your job either," he added.
Logano further mentioned that he tries to limit his distractions, and doesn't spend too much time on social media, or answering phone calls, text messages, and emails. He emphasized that he strives to be present in the moment with his family.
Joey Logano discusses work-life balance with Kevin Harvick
Two-time NASCAR Cup champion, Joey Logano and his wife, Brittany Baca, are parents to three children - Hudson, Jameson, and Emilia. The Team Penske driver described his work-life balance on Kevin Harvick's podcast, stating that he tries to cut out the unimportant things, to maximize time with his family.
"You have to cut out the things that aren't important. I go racing, I go to work, the things that matter, and then I go home and do the things that matter, being with my family, be with the kids, be a dad, be a good husband," he said on the podcast [from 21:00]
Logano also highlighted his wife, Brittany's untiring efforts towards raising their kids, when he is off racing. He added:
"When I'm home, it's 100% of the time with them. Don't call me, when I get to home, I'm not answering my phone. Not until seven o'clock the next morning."
Kevin Harvick agreed that a hard line must be drawn on time spent at work and with the family.
