NASCAR driver Noah Gragson and Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson recently visited the Shelby Museum and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with Ford in Las Vegas. The two talked about racing technology and discussed the differences in their respective series.

Gragson, who will drive the No. 30 Ford for Front Row Motorsports in the Cup Series next year, pointed out the lack of technology in NASCAR.

"It's crazy how much technology you guys have, with live sensors for tire temperatures and stuff... In NASCAR, we don't have any live data," Gragson said (02:44).

The 22-year-old New Zealand driver Lawson said:

"We have thousands of sensors on the car; the floor is one big piece, and it has hundreds of sensors."

Lawson has moved up from F3 and F2 and currently competes in F1 for RB.

Unlike NASCAR, Formula 1 cars use multiple sensors to gather data. The sensors track the engine and tires and send this data to the team. The sensors also measure temperature, pressure, tire wear and airspeed, which helps the team make the car faster and safer.

"We got each other’s back at the end of the day" - Noah Gragson on friendships in NASCAR

Noah Gragson finished his first full-time Cup Series season in 24th place in the final standings, driving Stewart-Haas Racing's No. 10 car. He finished ninth in the Daytona 500 but the team got a 35-point penalty after illegal roof rails.

Gragson talked about the tough NASCAR season earlier this month and shared his views on friendships between the drivers.

"They say bring your friends to the racetrack. But this is a grueling, grueling schedule and you’re pissed off by everyone else 38 weeks of the year. And you have to be around them 38 weeks a year.… So we can find that balance and race hard. We put each other in bad positions sometimes, and it doesn’t work out," Gragson said (via NASCAR).
"But I feel like we all do a pretty good job at being able to find that balance and separation between, hey, when we’re inside the track, we’re here to compete against each other when we put the helmets on. But when we walk outside the gates, we got each other’s back at the end of the day," he added.

Gragson had one top-5 finish (at Talladega) and seven top-10 finishes this season.

He will move to Front Row Motorsports in 2025 and join teammate Todd Gilliland. Gragson and Gilliland raced together before in the Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series East.
