NASCAR has reportedly made a big move in the Truck Series, set to begin in the 2025 season. The governing body, amid cost-cutting measures, has decided to place design restrictions on race teams' firesuits, segregating the design based on it being a 'behind-the-wall' suit or an 'over-the-wall' suit.
According to Matt Weaver, NASCAR informed the teams on Tuesday, November 26, that a design restriction would be implemented in the next season. The organizations can independently select the color of their choice which should be consistent throughout the team.
Behind-the-wall firesuits for the crew that will stay in the garage and won't come on the pit road will not be allowed to bear sponsorship branding, while over-the-wall suits will. Moreover, key logos like the Truck Series title sponsor Craftsman, Sunoco, Goodyear, and NASCAR, are recommended but are not an obligation.
The over-the-wall pit crew members should submit the design before the season begins and will be bound to use the same design throughout. NASCAR has taken this step to prevent teams from making different firesuits for different race weekends.
The new rule will impact the pre-owned suits market and pose a threat as many don't meet the safety requirements set by the governing body.
Toni Breidinger is set to mark her rookie NASCAR Truck Series season with Tricon Garage
Toni Breidinger fields a full-time ARCA Menards Series ride for Venturini Motorsports. The 25-year-old has contested in a handful of Truck Series races for Tricon Garage in 2023 and 2024. Breidinger registered her debut run at the Kansas Speedway and finished 15th, her best result thus far.
Breidinger tasted racing for the first time when she was nine and began go-karting with her sister Annie at the Sonoma Raceway. From there, they went to go-karting facilities for competitions which served as a foundation for her motorsports future. She has made over 65 starts in the ARCA Menards Series and ended the current season in 4th place.
The stock car racing driver and a social media sensation, having over 2.5 million followers on Instagram, brought big-pocketed sponsors like Raising Cane's, Sunoco, and Celsius to Tricon Garage.
“Racing full-time with Tricon is a dream for me. It’s been a 15-year process to get here, but I’m so excited for this moment and ready to capitalize on it," Breidinger said via NASCAR.
It's worth mentioning that Breidinger is a USAC midget Series champion. She claimed the title in 2016 and secured the Rookie of The Year honors in the same discipline in 2014.
The future Truck Series rookie was recognized as the first Arab-American woman to contest in a NASCAR-warranted event and was honored with the Developmental Series Driver Awards during the 2021 Drive for Diversity Awards ceremony.
