American businessman, entrepreneur, and retired NASCAR driver Rick Hendrick with a net worth of $1 Billion (according to Celebrity Net Worth) is on a new business venture. He seems to be expanding his horizon from racing to building a country house with Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Hendrick and the Roval track management team announced on Thursday, 10 October that they are collaborating on a project at Concard Track and named it Ten Tenth Motor Club. The tie is solely focused on building a country club for motorsport enthusiasts.
Formula 1 veteran Alexander Wurz would design the 1.7-mile track for the 100-acre country club. It includes a seven-turn 0.567-mile inner loop, a 13-turn 1.1-mile short course, and a 19-turn 1.7-mile full circuit. The track can be split into two courses and driven in both directions.
Rick Hendrick's new project with Marcus Smith will include a clubhouse, a climate-controlled member-only garage, and a concierge, followed by mechanical aid from the experts at Hendrick Motorsports. Along with the Ten-Tenths Circuit, there will be off-road trails for drivers seeking extra action.
The collaborators shared that the clubhouse would be inspired by Turn 11 at the Sonoma Raceway. It includes 20,000 square feet of space where events will take place and can hold up to 1,500 people. The Motor Club will also have a cigar lounge, bourbon bar, and a golf course.
“In addition to a premier track design and driving experience, Ten Tenths will have unparalleled resources and infrastructure to support every customer and organization we touch,” Hendrick said, via Charlotte Motor Speedway's article.
He showcased his gratitude to his collaborators and added:
"The opportunity to partner with Marcus and his brothers on a passion project like this is incredibly rewarding."
Rick Hendrick opens up about the future of Hendrick Motorsports
Hendrick Motorsports owner recently went to a podcast by Scott Fowler and highlighted that the former NASCAR driver and his long-term friend Jeff Gordon could be his potential successor. When questioned about his replacement, he replied:
"Yeah. I kid Jeff. I say, 'I don’t know whether you’re a little brother or a son. I’d like to think about you as a little brother.' I like to give him a hard time," he said, via The Charlotte Observer.
Further, Rick Hendrick mentioned that his son-in-law, Marshall Carlson, the current president of the team, and his grandson are the top contenders for his replacement. He added:
"But yes, Jeff and also my son-in-law, Marshall Carlson. And my grandson, Hendrick, who loves the business. He’s a gearhead. He’s a senior in high school this year but he works in the dealerships. Everybody really likes him and he loves it."
Jeff Gordon is one of the most successful drivers in the sport and an important member of Hendrick Motorsports, with four Cup Series wins during his driving career with the team from 1992 to 2015. He still ranks third on the most wins list with 93 victories.
