Bubba Pollard is set to return to the Xfinity Series after debuting this season in a part-time role with JR Motorsports. The Super Late Model driver will be driving under the Sam Hunt Racing tag this time.
Pollard competes in the Super Late Model series for his own time and had the chance to run one race for JR Motorsports at Richmond. The 37-year-old brought in an impressive result, however, as he finished the race in sixth place. While he did want to return for another race, he seemingly did not have enough finances to bring to the table for a race.
But, SANY America backed him up for a drive with Sam Hunt Racing. With their sponsorship, Bubba Pollard will return for another series race this season, driving the #26 Toyota Supra.
"A lot has happened," Bubba Pollard said. "I’m a racer and I want to race. I’m not necessarily saying I want to race at that level but it’s always fun to do and I won’t say a full-time deal, but I don’t know what it may bring."
He then mentioned that was getting back on board through SANY's sponsorship.
"It takes a lot of good partners and sponsorship like SANY to come on board and make happen. There were times, while we were meeting that I was questioning doing it, because I’m older, got a family, and enjoy what I do. But I talked to people for advice, and they said I wouldn’t want to regret it, look back and say I wish I would have done it and didn’t."
"They could have picked anybody": Bubba Pollard feels grateful to return to racing under his sponsors
The Georgia-based driver feels lucky to have been picked by his sponsors, who had a vast list of drivers to choose from. He further mentioned that they believed in him and hence backed him for his second Xfinity Series drive.
"That meant a lot to me," he added. "The biggest thing is that they could have picked anybody and they chose me because we’re right down the road from them and I felt like I couldn’t let them down when they believed in me, and showed that kind of dedication."
Bubba Pollard has also raced in the ARCA Series previously. Debuting back in 2005 with K Automotive Racing, he raced in five races over a span of a decade, finishing P11 twice.
