Talks of a squeal of Tom Cruise's NASCAR-based movie Days of Thunder with the original cast is gathering momentum. Kevin Harvick's co-host Mamba Smit recently expressed his views on the news on the "happy hour" podcast. He mentioned that Cruise is in early stage of talking with Paramount Pictures and they "like" the idea.
Days of Thunder starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman was released in 1990 and grossed over $82 million domestically and $75 million internationally. The movie became one of the most successful motorsports movies.
Kaitlyn Venice highlighted the fact that after the success of Top Gun: Maverick, the actor showcased his interest in making a squeal of Days of Thunder three decades after the movie was initially released. The NASCAR Hall of Fame driver also expressed his views on the news and highlighted that Talladega Night 2 should be getting a remake. Harvick has planned to give the movie a modern look.
Mamba Smith was surprised by Kevin Harvick's pick and asked him if he would allow the movie team to shoot at his house for the shoot again. Harvick gave a hilarious yet serious reply and mentioned, "You know there is a price for everything."
Venice, on the other hand, believes it is high time for a new NASCAR movie. The trio concluded, making it clear that everyone was waiting for a good NASCAR movie, and Mamba Smith mentioned that Tom Crusie's Days of Thunder 2 would "be sick."
Kevin Harvick bought the Talladega Nights mansion
Former Cup Series driver Kevin Harvick retired from the sport in 2023 and is enjoying his life to the fullest with plenty of free time. According to a report by Charlotte Business Journal, in conjunction with Mecklenburg County Records in North Carolina, Harvick bought the 12,042 square-foot mansion featured in Talladega Nights before his retirement in October 2023.
Kevin Harvick's new home was built in 2002 and was the residence of William Ferrell in the movie Talladega Nights, released in 2006, and earned $163 worldwide. The mansion includes six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a bar, an infinity pool, and a boat dock. The former NASCAR Cup Series winner also got a two million dollar discount on the original listing and paid $6.75 million for the house. It is located near Lake Norman in Cornelius, North Carolina.
The movie was released in 2006, and Will Ferrell played the role of a NASCAR driver aiming to win every race following the motto "If you ain't first, you're last." In the movie, Ferrel highlights the 2000s NASCAR's popularity and says Grace in front of the house's fireplace.
Former owners of the house before Kevin Harvick's new stay told the Observer that they left the fireplace untouched during the multimillion-dollar renovation.
Harvick competed in 826 races in his 23-year-old career and won the Cup Series championship in 2014. He amassed 60 wins, 444 top-ten finishes, and 31 pole positions, making him one of the dominant NASCAR drivers even in his last season; the latter finished in 13th.
