Kevin Harvick enjoyed the experience of competing in a new environment, with a new car on a new track, so much so that he's eager to do it again. During a recent episode of "Harvick Happy Hour" with Kaitlyn Vincie and Mamba Smith, he shared that despite being beaten by Bubba Pollard in the Super Late Model race at Five Flags Speedway, he's keen to continue competing in Late Model races.
Before the NASCAR Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway, former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick, alongside Chase Elliott, participated in the Super Late Model Race at Five Flags Speedway on Friday. Neither of them managed a top-10 finish, with Elliott placing 16th and Kevin Harvick ending up 13th in what was his debut race at this event.
Bubba Pollard won the checkered flag at the Busch Light 100 at Five Flags Speedway, even managing to lap Harvick in the process. Despite the outcome, Kevin Harvick enjoyed the experience and is open to more races. He shared:
"It was fun. I had a blast in learning a new racetrack, learning a new car, got my butt kicked by Bubba Pollard. Bubba Pollard lapped me. So that made me feel pretty good."
"I definitely enjoyed myself. We need to work on our car a little bit to make it a little better. But I wouldn't be shocked if we raced a few more times now. It was too much fun," Harvick added.
Kevin Harvick wanted to push his limits and step outside his comfort zone.
Before the Busch Light 100 race, Kevin Harvick admitted to feeling somewhat outmatched by the more seasoned Late Model drivers. During practice, he noted that it was a lot for him to take in. While he knew that coming into Late model he was going to be out-experience, it was still difficult for him.
After the race, on "Happy Harvick Hour," he reflected on the intense competition:
"You’re racing against the best of the best super late model guys in the country. They can go anywhere in the country, that group of guys, and win races. But that’s how I wanted to do it. I wanted to step away outside of my comfort zone to be able to say 'okay, these are the cars I want to race. I need to go race against the best guys',because that’s how you get better quicker." Kevin Harvick also shared that he felt fine until about Lap 50 when his car's interior became unbearably hot. He faced multiple equipment failures: the alternator went out, the cool shirt went out, and all of his fans went off. He credited the rain for helping him endure the Florida heat.
