Martin Truex Jr. revealed his hopes for taking part in the 2025 Daytona 500 after his retirement from full-time racing at the end of this season. He also stated that he might return for a couple of Xfinity and Truck Series races.
Joe Gibbs Racing driver Martin Truex Jr. earlier announced his retirement from full-time racing at the end of this season. Although he will not be a direct part of the championship in the 2025 season, he still wishes to keep a certain momentum of his racing.
Speaking to Dale Earnhardt Jr. on his Dale Jr. Download podcast, he revealed that he would be returning for the Daytona 500 and also for some of the Xfinity Series races.
"I'm not exactly sure yet, it looks like, it's almost a guarantee right now that I'll probably run the Daytona 500 not a done deal yet, but I feel like it shouldn't be too hard to finish that up," Truex Jr. said. "I'll definitely run a few Xfinity races; I don't know if that's two or if that's five or six. So we got to kind of look at the schedule see where I would like to run." [from 8:00]
Martin Truex Jr. added that he would like to swap with his brother Ryan Truex in the Truck Series and race the #40 Chevrolet in a few rounds.
"I feel like it'd be cool to do a little bit more to get something going for Ryan, you know, if we could split a car for a certain amount of races. Maybe even a few truck races here and there if I could put it together." [from 8:42]
Although Truex Jr. is optimistic about racing as a part-time driver in 2025, he earlier hinted towards a potential move to the Truck Series in the future.

Although Truex Jr. is set to retire at the end of this season and talked about returning as a part-time racer for 2025, he might have other plans as well.
The 44-year-old was asked by the media if he would be taking part in the Truck Series as a full-time driver. He stated that although he is not planning to race in any full-time role in the next season, he might consider something for 2026.
"A lot of people have been asking me that, friends especially, and people in the sport that I've worked with over the years. But as of right now I'm not running full-time anything next year so definitely going to take the year off full time. But never say never, maybe the year after who knows." [0:56]
So far, Martin Truex Jr has raced in three Truck Series races in 2005, 2006, and 2021. He won the 2021 race at Bristol.
