Trackhouse Racing driver Ross Chastain heads to Talladega Superspeedway with his #1 Chevy sporting a new Busch Beer camouflage paint scheme. The 2.66-mile oval will host the YellaWood 500, the second race in the NASCAR Cup Series Round of 12 playoffs.
After playing spoiler in the playoff race at Kansas Speedway, Trackhouse Racing and Chastain had been building up the hype for the new camouflage livery ahead of the Talladega weekend. The team teased the paint scheme by releasing playful clips featuring Chastain searching for his #1 Chevy.
"Dude where's my car? Dude where is my car! It's not funny the car's gone!" he said in a teaser, wearing the camouflage firesuit.
Trackhouse Racing released the camouflage paint scheme on Thursday, October 3, with the #1 Chevy covered in camouflage colors. The design highlights the team’s partnership with primary sponsor Busch Light and its annual Hunting Cans release.
Busch Light teamed up with Trackhouse Racing ahead of the 2024 season, serving as the primary sponsor on Ross Chastain's #1 Chevy for 18 races. Despite not advancing in the playoffs, Chastain secured his first win of the season at Kansas Speedway, where he played spoiler in the playoff battle.
Chastain heads to Talladega Superspeedway this weekend in his camouflage #1 Chevy, for the YellaWood 500. The race is scheduled for this Sunday, October 6 at 2:00 PM ET.
Ross Chastain comments on his expectations for Talladega playoff race
Heading into the wildcard race at Talladega Superspeedway, Ross Chastain emphasized the unpredictable nature of the 500-mile race. Elaborating on his expectations for the second trip to the 2.66-mile oval this season, he said:
"Obviously, I've won at Talladega before, but I've also been spinning around through the grass backwards. You hope for the best and do everything you can to keep your car together for the end of the race, and if you're lucky, you'll probably come away with a good finish. You just can't have any expectations at a superspeedway like Talladega." [via SpeedwayDigest.com]
Ross Chastain made a trip to the victory lane at the 2.66-mile oval in April 2022 and backed it with a top-5 result later that season. Aside from those results, the #1 Trackhouse Racing Chevy driver has failed to crack the top-10. He wrecked out of the fall race last year and was classified 13th earlier this season.
Although Chastain is aiming for back-to-back wins, his teammate Daniel Suarez is in the Round of 12, 14 points down on the cutline. There will be some team play at Talladega between the Trackhouse Racing drivers to help Suarez reduce his points deficit heading to the cut-off race at the Charlotte Roval.
