Christopher Bell's new ally Don Kreitz expressed his candid thoughts amid tapping the JGR driver for select 410 Sprint Car races. This comes after Bell's boss Joe Gibbs lifted the ban that prevented his drivers from venturing into motorsports except NASCAR.
The 30-year-old entered NASCAR in 2015 and has claimed 35 wins across all three Series. The Oklahoma native also carved his name among the sprint car racing prodigies, having won three Chili Bowl National Championships and three Turkey Night Grand Prix, among other tournaments. His last 410 Sprint Car race came in the 2022 PA Speedweek event at the Port Royal Speedway.
Christopher Bell finalized a deal with Kreitz Racing for two events: the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park on Feb 5 and the Kubota High Limit Racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 13. This happened shortly after JGR lifted the ban on drivers entering other stock racing competitions.
Bell's new ally Don Kreitz expressed his "hard to believe" feelings about his partnership with the JGR star. He said (via FloRacing):
“It’s amazing. It’s hard to believe that it’s really going to happen. Naturally, he’s one of the top drivers in the world as far as being able to run different stuff and run good in everything. He's really versatile and seems he was raised right, very polite," Kreitz said.
Bell will pilot the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame owner Kreitz's #69K Sprint car.
"I’m looking forward to getting my feet wet": Christopher Bell opens up on his upcoming sprint car return
Christopher Bell will be back in sprint car racing after a two-year hiatus. Gibbs didn't plan to let his JGR boys race in other disciplines but after Chase Briscoe joined the outfit as the replacement for Martin Truex Jr., resulting in two of three drivers on the roster with sprint car racing backgrounds, he flipped his decision.
Coincidentally, Logan Wagner, the former driver of the #69K car parting ways opened up the vacancy for Bell to field the iconic ride. Bell said he's ready to spring into action and wants to experience how comfortable his return would be.
“Watching the 69K run over the years has been super impressive. Don and the Kreitz team are top notch and I’m excited to see what it’s like to drive," Christopher Bell told FloRacing. "I’ve been out of Sprint Car racing for a while, so I’m looking forward to getting my feet wet and see how comfortable I am in my return.
Don Kreitz's former ally and Joe Gibbs Racing employee Chris Gillin would look after Bell and Kreitz's partnership. It's worth mentioning that the JGR driver revealed he wanted to race in Kreitz Racing's #69K sprint car ever since he learned that Gillin has worked with Don.
