NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Jesse Love was honored with the Sunoco Rookie of the Year award this year at the annual awards ceremony in Charlotte.

Love, who was in his first season, won his first race in April at Talladega and finished eighth in the overall standings. The No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro driver for Richard Childress Racing was one of the season’s standout rookies. Apart from the win, he had seven top-five and 18 top-10 finishes along with five pole positions in 2024.

Love's girlfriend, Georgia Kryssing, who was also present at the ceremony shared a video of him on the stage and reacted to the win in four words.

"Always proud of you," Kryssing wrote.

The Sunoco Rookie of the Year award is decided by the driver’s best 16 race results and a panel’s vote. Love believes his rookie season went as planned but he wants to work harder next year.

"I don’t think you ever want to be fully satisfied if you’re not the champion. But at the same time, for me, it was one of those deals where I didn’t expect the world, because I know how I am as a rookie is not...So that’s kind of my biggest thing was it was pretty much right on track with how I wanted the year to go. So next year is where I feel I put the pressure on myself and figure out how good I’m going to be,” Love said (via NASCAR).

Love was also the youngest driver, at 15 years of age, to win in the ARCA Menards Series and any NASCAR-sanctioned event.

"Not everybody loves me but I try to be genuine" - Jesse Love on fan following

In a recent interview, Jesse Love responded to being in the top five for Xfinity Series’ Most Popular Driver as a rookie. The 19-year-old admitted that not everyone likes him but he is happy to be himself, even if it causes some trouble at times.

"I didn’t expect to be in the top five, but I, you know, I was really grateful...I feel like I've always, you know, had a decent fan following. Um, I definitely have a decent non-fan following, right? Not everybody loves me, but I try to be genuine and, and not be a robot that, you know, you can kind of tell what I'm going to say. So, sometimes that gets me in trouble. But I feel like, at the end of the day, at least I'm happy that I'm a genuine person," Love said (via Peter Stratta).

Love won his first pole at Daytona this year where he led 34 laps before a crash. He earned a second pole position at Atlanta and got his career-best 2nd place finish at Phoenix.
