Stewart-Haas Racing's Chase Briscoe is set to replace Martin Truex Jr. at Joe Gibbs Racing in the 2025 season, with the latter having announced his retirement. This will be a relief to the SHR driver since his future has been in question.

After SHR announced that they would shut down operations after the 2024 Cup Series season, Briscoe's future was under threat. He has raced with the team since his debut in 2021 and collected one win at Phoenix in 2022. Now, he is set to race with Joe Gibbs Racing in the next Cup Series season.

It was recently announced that Chase Briscoe will replace Martin Truex Jr. at Joe Gibbs Racing in 2025. The latter had revealed that he would no longer be taking part in the full-time Cup Series competition from next season. Briscoe will now be driving the #19 Toyota Camry.

Briscoe will partner with Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, and Ty Gibbs at JGR. He could prove to be a valuable addition considering how competitive all the drivers are. Additionally, since making his debut, this will be Briscoe's second Cup Series team.

"We think Chase can win": Joe Gibbs impressed with Chase Briscoe's earlier records

Chase Briscoe has been involved in professional racing since 2013. In 2016, he won the ARCA Menards Series with Cunningham Motorsports. He was also very competitive in the Xfinity Series with SHR in 2019 and 2020.

Joe Gibbs, the owner of JGR, admitted that he was impressed by these factors. Moreover, Gibbs stated that the sacrifices Briscoe had to make were something that motivated him to pick him. Additionally, they also believe that he can win in the Cup Series, which is the team's ultimate goal.

"I think what really hit all of us besides Chase [Briscoe] and his background, you go back and look at Xfinity races that year and you see some of the other things he's done. He's already won a cup. But the thing when you hear him sit and talk about his background. And the sacrifices that he made to race I think that hit Johnny. I think his story and the way he sacrificed to do what he does was really impressive. I know it impressed Johnny and JP. And it did me," he told the media.
"But also we have to win and so we came down to the end. We think Chase can win. And so that's where we are and it's uh thrill for us," Gibbs added.

Gibbs and Birscoe will be hoping that this association turns out to be a fruitful one for both parties.
