NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson recently shared a heartfelt message, showing his sympathy for those affected by the California wildfires. In a social media post, Johnson talked about the challenges that affected residents must be facing while also praising the efforts of firefighters and first responders.

He also expressed concern for what friends, family, and others are going through due to the wildfires raging in Southern California, writing:

"unimaginable challenges"

Johnson put up this message on his account on X. As a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and Hall of Fame inductee, Johnson has a significant following on his social media with over 2.5 million followers on X itself.

Additionally, he also mentioned the organizations that have been active in providing the affected with relief. In his post, he included the links to contact the American Red Cross and California Fire Foundation as well as for getting direct relief. He wrote:

The ongoing wildfires have already forced over 105,000 residents to evacuate, with containment efforts being hindered by the return of Santa Ana winds. Emergency services are continuing the critical fight, though officials warn that the threat level is high.

The Jimmie Johnson and HMS Partnership

Jimmie Johnson's NASCAR career began at a remarkably young age. He first took to the track on motorcycles at just four years old, honing his racing skills in the competitive world of the Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group and SCORE International series.

After shifting to stock car racing, Johnson drove in the American Speed Association (ASA). His performance in ASA is what led him to NASCAR, where he drove for the Herzog family team from 1998 to 2001. His first big win was at the Chicagoland Speedway in 2001.

Since the team had issues with sponsorships, Johnson asked four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon for help. Seeing the potential in Johnson, Gordon introduced him to Rick Hendrick. In September of 2000, Jimmie Johnson was signed by HMS.

The 2001 season saw Johnson race in only 3 races, before he got a full-time seat in 2002. This is where his partnership with HMS and crew chief Chad Knaus began. This resulted in 7 NASCAR championships to his name, plus two victories at the Daytona 500.

Johnson and Chad Knaus’ went on to have a successful run from 2002 to 2018.

Jimmie Johnson announced his retirement from full time racing in 2020.
