The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season witnessed Team Penske star Joey Logano clinching his third championship title. Apart from the coveted trophy staying under the same Penske shed, another prized possession stayed within the organization albeit was transferred from one teammate to another.

Jimmie Johnson started a journal after winning five consecutive Cup Series titles from 2006 to 2010. After Tony Stewart dethroned Johnson in 2011, the Hall of Famer passed down the journal to the new NASCAR champion with a note in it. Thus, making it the 'Champion's journal'. Since then, the contents have been kept a secret as the eventual championship winners have passed it to their successors.

While the journal has been with the Roger Penske-owned organization for the last three seasons, the #22 Ford driver Logano, who took the Cup Series title from Ryan Blaney, shared his thoughts on the 'Book of Secrets' via Sportsnaut.

"They’re all neat in their own way, fun, unique to read. It’s fun that it’s such a big secret and that everyone wants to know what it looks like. We do a good job keeping it a secret. It’s honestly one of the coolest things about winning the championship," Joey Logano said.
"All the credit to Jimmie for starting it. I’d have never thought of something like that. I’m pretty sure he wrote a couple of letters to himself at some point before handing it off the first time."

Joey Logano also revealed how it would be a 'fun' read as the #12 driver Blaney will write back a letter to him.

"You couldn’t write a script that came out any better": Joey Logano's boss shared his thoughts on his third consecutive title as an owner

Team Penske owner Roger Penske now has five Cup Series championship titles. Brad Keselowski brought home the team's maiden trophy in 2012, followed by Joey Logano in 2018 and 2022, then by Ryan Blaney in 2023, and most recently by Logano in the 2024 NASCAR season.

After his team clinched its third Cup trophy, the 87-year-old Penske shared his thoughts as a championship team owner as he witnessed the two ace Penske drivers, Logano and Blaney, battle for the title. He said via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio:

"It's amazing when you think about, you know, the Pettys and the Hendricks and people like that, just to get close to their club is amazing. But our team today and all season, we just got better and better. And as I said, my name's on the door, but it's, you know, all the people that make a difference."

Penske continued:

"You know I put it all together and you couldn't write a script that came out any better for all of us. And you're driving your drivers to finish first and second [...] Well, we have no instructions, it's, 'The best man wins,' and I think that they ran there together. And it was amazing, wheel to wheel like that."

The 2024 NASCAR season ended with Logano taking the top spot with Blaney finishing runner-up in the final drivers' standings.
