John Hunter Nemechek married Taylor Stier in October 2020 at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards in North Garden, Virginia. Their first daughter, Aspen, was born on March 31, 2021.
The couple welcomed their second child, Penelope, on August 24, 2023. That same year, Legacy Motor Club announced that Nemechek would drive the #42 Camry on a full-time basis in the Cup Series from the 2024 season. He previously competed in the Cup Series for Front Row Motorsports in the 2019-2020 season.
John Hunter Nemechek talks about competing for Kyle Busch, Joe Gibbs, and Jimmie Johnson in his NASCAR career
Before returning to the Cup Series as a full-time driver, John Hunter Nemechek competed in the Truck Series and Xfinity Series for Kyle Busch Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing respectively.
In a recent interview with Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass, Nemechek discussed his time with his former teams when asked about the "pressure" of competing in the different series.
"More pressure was driving for Kyle for sure. Driving for KB was a lot of pressure to go out and succeed," John Hunter Nemechek said.
Nemechek competed in the 2021 and 2022 Truck Series seasons for Kyle Busch Motorsports. He clinched the regular season championship in 2021 and finished the season with a career-best third in the points standings.
While talking about his stint in the Xfinity Series for the 2023-2024 season under Joe Gibbs Racing, Nemechek said:
"Driving for Coach (Gibbs) was super special. Coach is more, I would say, of a motivator and a coach in that aspect — if things don't quite go right, he definitely knows what to say in those instances."
In the end, Nemechek talked about his budding relationship with the #42 team at Legacy Motor Club:
"We're just getting into really our relationship driving for Jimmie and The King and Maury [Gallagher]. But overall, Jimmie has been great to work with. He pushes me to be better every single week. But he's also there for me being able to ask questions and trying to gain knowledge," Nemechek added.
The #42 Camry driver currently stands in the 25th spot in the overall Cup Series standings with 218 points under his belt and two top-ten finishes so far in the 2024 season.
