JR Motorsports Xfinity driver Carson Kvapil dismissed the pressure of having the two-time Xfinity Series champion Dale Earnhardt Jr. as his supporter at the races.
Kvapil, the defending champion of the CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car, debuted in the Xfinity Series in the DUDE Wipes 250 at Martinsville Speedway earlier this season. Piloting the $300 million worth (according to Celebrity Net Worth) Dale Earnhardt Jr's #88 Chevy, Kvapil showcased his skills and battled for the top five in the closing laps of the race with a fourth-place finish.
In a recent conversation with PRNlive, the 20-year-old brushed off the pressure of having the owner of his team support him from the stands. PRNlive posted on X (formerly Twitter):
"Carson Kvapil says the pressure of having @DaleJr as a supporter doesn't bother him."
"Honestly, no, I'm not really concerned to be honest. It's gonna be one of those races where you just settle in. If our car's good, we should be able to drive forward like Martinsville," Carson Kvapil said.
Carson Kvapil hails from North Carolina and is a professional stock car racing driver for JR Motorsports. He competes full-time in the CARS Late model stock tour piloting the #8 Chevy Camaro and competes part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series driving the #88 Chevy. He is also the son of 2003 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion Travis Kvapil.
"He's got such good racecraft" - Dale Jr impressed by Carson Kvapil's debut
Dale Earnhardt Jr, the owner of JR Motorsports, was thoroughly impressed by the 20-year-old Late model star in the Xfinity Series at Martinsville earlier this month.
In a post-race interview with Frontstretch, Dale Jr. praised the talent of Carson Kvapil on the bigger stage, especially during the finishing laps of the race. Kvapil managed to get fourth position with his #88 Chevy on his debut at Martinsville Speedway. Dale Jr. was quoted as saying:
"Excited! Really good for this track, I think it's really tough to finish here. As you saw at the end it gets real aggressive. He's got such good racecraft, better racecraft than probably 80 percent of the field. He's just mature... kids grown up in it, works on cars all day, everyday. Everything about his life every minute is racing."
"He's got this incredible temperament, he's level all the time. Like not once did he show any nerves or anxiety over this being too big or too heavy. Can't seem to really rattle him. I asked him in the middle of the race what he thought, he's like 'Pretty simple, I'm doing what I'm supposed to do," Dale Jr added.
