NASCAR driver Daniel Suarez tied the knot with Julia Piquet earlier this week. Following their intimate wedding in Piquet's hometown, Suarez headed to race in the NASCAR Brazil event this weekend. He clinched a victory at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, and his wife shared her joy with a heartfelt post on social media.

Born in Mexico, Suarez moved to the United States to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional racecar driver. While in USA, Suarez got acquainted with Nelson Piquet Jr. The former F1 driver introduced Suarez to his sister Julia Piquet, and they hit it off soon after.

This has been a special week for both Daniel Suarez and Julia Piquet. Emotions ran high as, just after getting married, Suarez made history by becoming the only NASCAR driver to win races in three different countries.

Before clinching the NASCAR Brazil race, Suarez won the NASCAR Mexico season opener earlier this year, followed by a victory at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Elated, his wife shared a heartfelt message on Instagram with a picture of Suarez, celebrating his achievement. She wrote:

The Autódromo José Carlos Pace, or better known as Interlagos, is hosting three NASCAR Brasil races this weekend, with the third race on Sunday.

The former Xfinity Series champion emerged victorious in the first two races, but his first win was later retracted due to a penalty.

Daniel Suarez pilots the #99 Chevy for Trackhouse Racing Team, competing full-time in the Cup series. Suarez is in his eighth full-time season in NASCAR's top division, of which he has raced four years with TRT. In his eight-year Cup Series stint, Suarez has gathered two wins, and 63 top-ten finishes.

"It was a no-brainer for me" - Daniel Suarez expresses his views on having the opportunity to compete in the NASCAR Brazil race

Following the return of the Brickyard 400, NASCAR took a two-week haitus as NBC Sports had their hands full with covering the Paris Olympics. Most drivers have taken this opportunity to rest, before returning to their high-octane life as a motorsports athlete.

However, Daniel Suarez chose to compete in the NASCAR Brazil Series only days after his wedding. In a post race interview at Indianapolis, Suarez expressed his feelings on racing in Brazil. He said (via NASCAR):

"Brazil is a country that is very close to my heart. Julia (Piquet, fiancée), she’s already from Brazil. Her entire family is in Brazil. I’ve been competing in Brazil since 2015, endurance races in go-karts, and I have got to know the culture, the people and the motorsport love to a different level."

He added:

"When I found out that they were gonna be having a NASCAR Brasil race in Interlagos on a race track that is so historic … it was a no-brainer for me. I started having some conversations with NASCAR and NASCAR Brasil, and I got the opportunity."

NASCAR will return for the the first of four remaining regular-season races at Richmond Raceway on August 11th. Daniel Suarez has clinched a spot in the 2024 playoffs, and is currently P17 in the driver standings.
