Justin Allgaier joined his team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Chase Elliott, celebrating his first NASCAR Xfinity Series championship victory. He finished the race at Phoenix in second place, enough for him to win the title.

Allgaier has been racing in the Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports since the 2016 season. The 38-year-old has spent over 14 years in the series but remained far off from winning the title. With just two wins in the 2024 season, his contention seemed to fall a little out of place as he fell behind the grid in a few races.

However, Allgaier managed to put up with the rest of the competition and won the Xfinity Series Championship. He said, via Speedway Digest:

"I said all weekend, I don’t know what the plan is, but HE has a reason for everything and tonight is true of that, this is mind-blowing, it really is," Allgaier said.
"This team never gave up. [Crew chief] Jim Pohlman and his leadership skills are second to none. He told me all weekend that we were going to have a chance and we tried to give it away every way we could," he added.

Justin Allgaier was then asked about his wait to win the awaited championship. Racing since 2009 with multiple teams, the title fight seemed difficult for him during many moments, however, he managed to emerge victorious after a decade and a half (almost). Responding to the question, he said:

"Understated, yeah. This race team right here, Dale, Kelly, L.W., every man and woman that works in this race shop, Jim Pohlman, this gentleman right here, Rick Brandt, the guy stuck with me through thin and thick."

"He drives hard": Dale Earnhardt Jr. as Justin Allgaier drives himself to title victory

Dale Earnhardt Jr. left positive remarks as his driver won the championship this year. He is the fourth driver to win the title with the team and this is also the fourth title for the team. Chase Elliott won for the first time in 2014, followed by William Byron and Tyler Reddick in 2017 and 2018.

Discussing his victory, Dale Jr. mentioned that Justin Allgaier brings a lot to the team and has worked extremely hard to improve his mistakes. Furthermore, he also mentioned that Allgaier is liked by their partners which is a huge positive.

"Yeah, he has [put in so much]. He’s worked so hard. He’s gave so much to our team. He’s just done so much for us. If there’s an image in a dictionary of the model race car driver, it’s him. He’s been incredible for our partners. Anyone that’s worked with him on the partner side loves him. He goes above and beyond there," Earnhard Jr. stated.

Earnhardt added that he personally wanted Justin Allgaier to win the championship because he "deserves it".

"And he drives hard. Sometimes too hard. But I’d rather have a driver like that going for it all the time and pushing as hard as he can. He’s a lot of fun. We’ve had a lot of fun over the years, but I’ve badly wanted him to get this championship because he’s a champion. He deserves it," he added.

This is Justin Allgaier's first title in the Xfinity Series championship. His previous best finish was the runner-up spot in two seasons with the same team (2020 and 2023). Meanwhile, JR Motorsports is now tied with Joe Gibbs Racing to be the team with the third-most drivers' titles in the series. The latter won the titles in the 2009, 2026, 2021, and 2022 seasons.

JR Motorsports has been running in the Xfinity Series since 2005 and has produced 88 victories with 20 different drivers. Despite the impressive stats, however, this is only their first owner's championship victory.
