Four-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore has signed with Joe Gibbs Racing to run on a part-time basis in the Xfinity Series in 2025. The 36-year-old will be behind the wheel of the #19 Toyota for five races this upcoming season.

The news was broken by JGR via social media as the organization welcomed Bonsignore back. The team wrote on X:

"He's back! Four-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Champion Justin Bonsignore will drive the team’s No. 19 Toyota in five NASCAR Xfinity Series races in 2025. @JBonsignore"

Bonsignore returns to JGR after running one Xfinity Series race last season at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Despite ultimately finishing 22nd, the New York native ran within the top five spots during the 200-lap event.

On the heels of his signing, Bonsignore told nascar.com that following that race, he and JGR aimed to do more races in 2025. Sure enough, the opportunity came to fruition, and Bonsignore is looking forward to seeing what he can do in his five races in 2025.

“When we had the opportunity to work with the Joe Gibbs Racing team at New Hampshire last year, it was a perfect pairing,” Justin Bonsignore said. “As soon as that weekend was over, we started looking at options to run a larger schedule in 2025 and it all came together. When you work with a team like JGR, you know you’re going to have a car in contention to win every race you run. We’re looking forward to having some fun and chasing trophies.”

Steve de Souza, the Executive Vice President of Xfinity Series and Development for JGR, told nascar.com that the organization is looking forward to having the Whelen Modified star back behind the wheel in their Xfinity Series program and that the opportunity is well-deserved. Souza added:

“We’re excited to have Justin back in our car in 2025. He has proven himself over and over again in the modifieds and he did a great job for us at New Hampshire with no track time before the race started. We’re looking forward to seeing what he can do with more opportunities to adapt to the Xfinity cars and working with the same team multiple times this season.”

Justin Bonsignore won his fourth Whelen Modified Tour championship in 2024

For the fourth time in his career, Justin Bonsignore reached the pinnacle of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour by winning his fourth championship in 2024. Bonsignore is a part of elite company as one of only four drivers in Modified Tour history to have won four titles.

Bonsignore also became the Modified Tour champion in 2018, 2020, and 2021. He has 45 career victories, which ranks second all-time only behind Mike Stefanik with 74 wins.

Bonsignore has been racing full-time in the Modified Tour since 2010. Since 2018, he has won at least two races in every season.
