According to NASCAR insider Brett Griffin, Rick Ware Racing driver Justin Haley is likely to find himself under a new shed during the upcoming Cup Series season. Griffin believes that Haley would probably replace Harrison Burton of Wood Brothers Racing, piloting the #21 Ford.
With the announcement of Stewart-Haas Racing's closure after the 2024 season and the possibility of NASCAR's new three-charter rule, a plethora of drivers, especially SHR's Ford drivers, have an uncertain future. SHR's #14 Chase Briscoe was rumored to be a prospect for replacing current #21 driver Harrison Burton of Wood Brothers Racing. However, Griffin, the veteran NASCAR spotter believes otherwise.
In a recent episode of Door Bumper Clear, Griffin claimed that #51 Ford driver Haley is likely to move to Wood Brothers Racing's outfit. Griffin said [at 21:18]:
"This guy (Justin Haley) has obviously impressed a lot of people. I've heard that he could potentially go to a 23XI third car, potentially to RFK if they add a third car. Obviously, now he's rumored to be going to the #21 car(WBR) which may be vacated because Briscoe didn't and elected not to stay in the Ford Camp."
"Justin Haley I feel like is going to end up in a really good spot I don't think it's going to be a long time either until that deal gets announced," added Brett Griffin. [at 21:53].
The 25-year-old Haley has one Cup Series win under his name, which he secured in the 2019 Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Currently, Haley is in his first season with Rick Ware Racing. After 17 races, he is currently ranked P30 in the overall Cup Series standings with two top-10 finishes.
Justin Haley's historic record for Rick Ware Racing
Justin Haley made a historic record for the Rick Ware outfit while piloting the #51 Ford in the 2024 Cup Series season.
Haley's two top-ten finishes in three races in this Cup season is the first time in the team's history that a car has bagged two top-10s in three consecutive events. The #51 driver made two ninth-place finishes at Darlington Raceway and World Wide Technolgy Raceway earlier this season.
According to Trey Ryan on X:
"Justin Haley has finished top 10 in 2 of the last 3 races (Darlington & Gateway). This is the first time in Rick Ware Racing HISTORY that a car has scored top 10s in 2 of 3 races."
With a recent 13th place finish at Iowa Speedway (June 16) after starting 19th on the grid, Haley is gearing up for more successful runs as NASCAR heads toward the 18th race of the 2024 Cup Series season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on June 23.
