When Kyle Larson won the first Kubota High Limit Racing international race in Australia, the Californian celebrated without his family. Larson explained that his wife Katelyn wanted to come but she had to stay in the US for their children.

Kyle Larson is a 32-year-old professional stock car racing driver who competes in the NASCAR Cup Series under Hendrick Motorsports. He recently flew to Australia for the first international High Limit race, a sprint car series he co-owns, and won.

Speaking with FloRacing, Larson said his wife was initially planning to go with him to the Land Down Under but decided to stay home because of their upcoming travel plans.

“The kids were not going to come, ever,” the racecar driver said. “Katelyn was planning to come but it’s such a short trip."
"We were going to go straight to Tulsa. And Cooper turns two on New Year’s Eve, so she decided to stay back," Larson added.

The 32-year-old will compete in four classes in the Tulsa Shootout, while Owen will enter two classes. The duo will go up against Kyle Busch and his son Brexton in the same respective classes.

The Tulsa Shootout is running at SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma until January 4 next year.

Kyle Larson downplayed Double stint over Australia sprint race

Kyle Larson's The Double attempt may be hectic but it didn't compare to the first international High Limit Racing stop in Australia. He said the logistics for the Memorial Day weekend was easier than his year-end racing schedule.

Larson stated (via FloRacing):

“I think all my dirt racing prior to that prepared me for the May thing. It was actually really, really easy. That was the only time of the year I was in one place for a solid week. Flying back and forth for the All-Star Race, and obviously, the 500/600 was hectic with the weather, but I’ve done that a lot with sprint cars and getting back at night for NASCAR the next day.”

The Double attempt witnessed Larson fly from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indy 500 to the Charlotte Motor Speedway for NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. He finished 18th at Indy but didn't make it on time in Charlotte.

The 32-year-old driver will attempt the Double again next year.

Meanwhile, Larson's year-end racing schedule consists of an international sprint car race at Perth Motorplex in Australia (December 28 to 30) followed by the Tulsa Shootout in Oklahoma, USA (December 31 to January 4).

Before NASCAR returns in February, the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driver will enter the 2025 Chili Bowl Nationals. He will go up against fellow NASCAR drivers Kyle Busch and Christopher Bell.
