NASCAR driver Shane van Gisbergen was in a tense battle with HMS ace Kyle Larson for the lead in this year's Xfinity Series race at the Chicago Road Course. Recently, his former team, Kaulig Racing, shared a clip of the battle between him and Larson on social media and shared a brief reaction to it.

van Gisbergen and Hendrick Motorsports #5 driver Kyle Larson's battle in The Loop 110 at Chicago started with qualifying as they occupied the front row, with the Kiwi securing the pole position. throughout the race, SVG and the former Cup Series champion were exchanging track positions for leading the field.

After fighting hard, Kaulig Racing's #97 driver drove down Victory Lane at the newly established Chicago Street Course, and Kyle Larson finished the race in P3. Shane van Gisbergen, a three-time Australian Supercars champion, drove the #97 Chevrolet Camaro for Kaulig Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Renowned for his road course expertise, he made a spectacular NASCAR debut by winning the 2023 Cup Series Chicago Street Race, cementing his reputation on the global motorsport stage.

Meanwhile, van Gisbergen had a successful run in his rookie full-time season in the Xfinity Series, piloting the #97 Chevy for Kaulig Racing. In 33 races, the New Zealand native secured 3 trips to victory lane, 7 top-five finishes, and started from pole position three times.

Moreover, the three-time Supercars champion's performance in the Xfinity Series season landed him a seat in the Cup Series starting in 2025.

Shane van Gisbergen has secured his move to NASCAR's top division and will pilot Trackhouse Racing's third entry, the #88 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The announcement was made earlier this season, ahead of the controversial Coke Zero Sugar 400 Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway, where van Gisbergen made his fifth start in the 2024 Cup Series campaign.

Following the announcement, van Gisbergen shared his thoughts on securing the move and expressed that he is ready for the challenge. (via motorsport.com)

I feel I have made progress running the Xfinity Series this year with Kaulig Racing and I can't thank everyone there enough. I look forward to the Cup Series. Shane van Gisbergen made 12 starts in the Cup Series in 2024, where he secured one top-five and two top-ten finishes. Moreover, he also secured a pole position at the Charlotte ROVAL, establishing his presence in the division before moving full-time.
