After Kevin Harvick reacted to a video of Alex Bowman drifting, Bowman threw a friendly challenge to the seasoned driver, which Harvick accepted. While Harvick isn't a fan of burnouts, he appreciated the response from the Hendrick Motorsports driver after Harvick's critique of Bowman’s actions in Chicago.

During the Chicago Street Race at Grant Park 165, Alex Bowman won the race with his #48 Chevy. Post-race, while cooling down, Bowman attempted a drift alongside Bubba Wallace, which didn't quite go as planned. Kevin Harvick, sharing his thoughts on NASCAR on NBC, wasn't impressed, remarking, "He tried to do the drifting thing, which I didn't really like. You're drifting around like somebody else."

However, in response to Kevin Harvick's comments, Alex Bowman shared a video on social media where he executed burnouts around a test track. Responding to this, Kevin Harvick commented:

"You know what I love about this and this is you know if you're gonna drift don't spin out and hit the wall but I love the fact that I had no idea that Alex Bowman did this."

Alex Bowman wasn't ready to drop the subject just yet. After Kevin Harvick acknowledged his response, Bowman reshared the video with a playful jab, asking:

"Does this mean we’re going drifting @KevinHarvick"

To this, Harvick gamely responded:

"Let’s do it!"

The idea of a seasoned veteran and a newer driver teaming up for a spin around the track promises to be an intriguing sight.

"He's a drifter," chuckles Kevin Harvick's son, Keelan Harvick

After accepting Alex Bowman's drifting challenge, Kevin Harvick recounted an amusing episode with his son, Keelan Harvick, who gave his father a reality check while driving home. He told:

"We were actually driving home as well, and Keelan chirps in from the back seat. He is like 'Oooh! Dad, you're taking some heat.' I'm like heat from what? He's like 'Apparently you critiqued Alex Bowman's drifting attempt, after the race. And he is a drifter.' I had no idea. Alex Bowman's a drifter." [at 0:45]

The #48 Hendrick Motorsports driver, meanwhile, has clinched his spot in the playoffs—a significant feat especially considering the string of injuries he’s overcome in recent years, including a back issue and a concussion. Despite swirling rumors about his future at Hendrick Motorsports, his seat remains secure with his contract locked in until 2026, and Jeff Gordon, the Vice Chairman, has dispelled any speculation about him leaving.

With all four Hendrick Motorsports drivers now playoff-bound, Alex Bowman has already notched 11 top-10 finishes this season, approaching his 2022 total of 12 and surpassing last year's 10. His record high of 16 top-10s was set in 2021, and he’s on track to break that record this year.
