As the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series heads to the Kansas Speedway, the 2014 NASCAR champion Kevin Harvick shared his insights and predicted the winner for the first race of Round of 12’s playoffs. He's going with Hendrick Motorsports driver to win Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway.
On his eponymous “Happy Hour” podcast, Kevin Harvick shared a detailed analysis of the driver he believes would have an upper hand to reach victory lane in the fourth race of the NASCAR playoffs on Sunday.
The former NASCAR driver-turned-commentator Harvick picked Kyle Larson to win at Kansas’ 1.5-mile intermediate track. Larson is entering Kansas on the back of last week’s dominating win by leading 462 of 500 laps at Bristol.
While predicting the winner for the Kansas playoff race, co-host Kaitlyn Vincie picked Kyle Larson to win back-to-back races. Agreeing with her, Kevin Harvick said:
“Yep, me too." [53:24]
Kyle Larson’s win was a generational NASCAR win at Bristol. He became the second driver to lead 462 laps at Bristol after Cale Yarborough led 495 laps in 1977. He must be in high confidence heading into the second round of the playoffs.
Meanwhile, co-host Mamba Smith picked Christopher Bell to win this week, saying:
“I'm going to go with Christopher Bell. I just think that this track is really good for them. It’s a mile and a half. He's running on the top and can run anywhere. I would go Tyler Reddick, too, or him, because 23XI is dominating Kansas, #45 specifically; that number wins at Kansas a lot.”
Bell has performed well in the first round of the playoffs, sitting second, being Larson, in the playoff’s points standings.
How has Kevin Harvick’s favorite Kyle Larson performed at Kansas Speedway?
The #5 Hendrick Motorsports driver has had outstanding numbers at Kansas Speedway. He has two wins, eight top-five finishes and 11 top-10 finishes, with an average finish of 12.3 in 19 starts at this track.
Larson’s most recent win at Kansas came in this year’s AdventHealth 400 in May. He will look to replicate the Kansas fall race performance on Sunday to win back-to-back races. He's leading the Cup Series playoffs points table. He has 15 points cushion in the NASCAR playoffs cutline.
