NASCAR veteran Kevin Harvick recently made his pick for the best race finish in the Cup Series in the 2024 season. While his co-hosts Kaitlyn Vincie and Mamba Smith chose RCR driver Austin Dillon's heavily disputed victory in the Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway, Harvick made a different choice.
Richard Childress Racing’s #3 driver, Austin Dillon, clinched a dramatic victory at Richmond by executing a double-contact move during the final lap of overtime. The first bump displaced Joey Logano, who was leading with a solid gap over Dillon. Moments later, Dillon collided with Denny Hamlin in the #11 Toyota, who attempted to overtake him after Logano’s incident. The maneuver unsettled Hamlin, allowing Dillon to secure the win amidst the chaotic finish.
In a recent episode of Kevin Harvick's Happy Hour podcast, the former driver, along with his co-hosts ranked their favorite finish of this year's Cup Series season. Richard Childress' grandson was the choice of his co-hosts, however, Harvick said:
"I picked Kyle Larson because I thought it was the most authentic. It was hardcore racing finish that we had out of the year. Suarez beating Blaney, huh, it was exciting but it was a Super Speedway. Stenhouse-Keselowski at Talladega Super Speedway.
"Austin Dillon, he won kind of a wrecking ball type moment. I picked Larson over Buescher just because of the fact I thought it was the most authentic."
Kevin Harvick, the 2014 NASCAR Cup champion, boasts over 800 Cup starts and 60 wins including the Daytona 500, and two Xfinity titles. His 2020 regular-season crown further solidifies his place among NASCAR's most accomplished and versatile drivers.
Following his retirement, Harvick now co-owns the zMAX CARS Tour with Dale Earnhardt Jr., who is set to return in the iconic Budweiser #8 Chevy for a limited number of appearances in the LMSC events.
Kevin Harvick awards Shane van Gisbergen’s Sonoma celebrations with the ‘best burnout’ of the year
NASCAR driver Shane van Gisbergen emerged victorious in the Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250 at Sonoma Raceway. This was his second consecutive win following a victory at Portland International Raceway the previous weekend. Recently, Kevin Harvick titled the Kiwi's burnout the best across NASCAR in the 2024 campaign.
In an episode of the Happy Hour podcast, Harvick said:
"Just the way that whole thing unfolded and you had to go back and look at the bird hanging out the window. And the burnout right next to the car. And we didn't show it right there, but he followed him all the way back to pit road and just kind of hounded him all the way back to pit road. And then once he went on the pit lane, went to the front straightaway and did his burnout. So that was definitely that was one of the more unique moments of the burnout that I've ever seen."
Van Gisbergen was in his rookie Xfinity Series season, where he secured three race wins and made it to the playoffs. Moreover, SVG is set to join Trackhouse Racing full-time in the 2025 Cup Series season.
