As the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series heads to Pocono Raceway, former driver-turned-commentator Kevin Harvick shared his insights and predicted the winner for this weekend’s race. Harvick went with a Joe Gibbs Racing veteran to reach victory lane in Sunday’s The Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway.
On his eponymous “Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour” podcast, the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion explored a detailed analysis of the driver he believes will have a shot to win at the Pocono race on Sunday (July 14).
According to Kevin Harvick, the #11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver Denny Hamlin is going to win the Great American Getaway 400 this weekend. Hamlin is the defending winner of this event. Harvick backed the #11 driver because of his past performances at The Tricky Triangle.
Predicting the 2024 Great American Getaway 400 winner on his podcast, Harvick said:
“I think we're getting back to the racetracks where we're going to see our guys are #5 (Kyle Larson) and #11 (Denny Hamlin). I think the #5 and the #11 are going to continue their battle. But Denny's been so good there over the years. I'm going to go with Denny on that one.”
Harvick’s co-hosts also had their say. Kaitlyn Vincie picked Martin Truex Jr. as the #19 JGR driver is going to retire after this season.
“I'm going MTJ. I know I've picked him a lot lately, and I don't know if this is just like an emotional pick because he's retiring, but he has been very good at Pocono over the years as well.”
While Mamba Smith went with Ty Gibbs to win his first career Cup race this week.
“I think I'm going to go with Ty Gibbs because the Toyota's here specifically; I feel like a really fast over the last couple of years, and Ty, it's just like, he's just like, he's like so close, like right there and somewhere it's got to breakthrough.”
