Former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick recently shared his views on the momentum bracket heading into a two-week break for the Paris Olympics and picked Ryan Blaney ahead of Joey Logano. Harvick’s comments came during the “Happy Hour podcast,” where he analyzed the current performances and revealed and revealed one driver who is looking strong.
Kevin Harvick believes that the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney is on the title hunt as the 2024 NASCAR regular season is heading towards business end. He also feels that Blaney’s two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion teammate Logano is not even close to him.
On his podcast, Kevin Harvick praised Ryan Blaney and his #12 Team Penske team for their strong comeback in the later half of the regular season. He also mentioned that they are performing at their full potential.
Commenting on the driver with the most momentum, Harvick said:
“The 12 car is in the hunt. We didn’t say that at the beginning of the year. The 12 car is in the hunt. …They have got the ship headed in the right direction. They’ve been performing well, in contention. Jonathan (Hassler) calls a great race week after week. He does a great job on the pit box, and they’re firing on all eight cylinders.”
Sharing his thoughts on the other two Team Penske drivers, Harvick said:
“Logano is not quite like the 12,” he said. “I don’t think Cindric has anything for those two cars.
Ryan Blaney started the 2024 with inconsistent runs, but as the season progressed towards the end of the regular season, the #12 driver gained momentum with two wins in five weeks and is now charging towards his back-to-back championship.
Kevin Harvick’s co-host is going with Ryan Blaney to repeat as NASCAR champion this season
Former NASCAR driver-turned-commentator and his co-host Mamba Smith made their NASCAR Cup Series championship predictions on “Happy Hour Podcast” this week. Smith predicts Ryan Blaney will become the first driver to win a back-to-back NASCAR championship after Jimmie Johnson dating back to 2010.
Predicting Blaney as the 2024 champion, Kevin Harvick’s co-host said:
“I said it earlier; I think it’s time to see a back-to-back champion; we haven’t seen one since Jimmie Johnson. Ryan Blaney, Team Penske, the 12 group, Jonathan Hassler, they are going to go back-to-back this year and make it three in a row for Team Penske as a whole."
Through 22 races, Ryan Blaney already has two wins under his belt and currently sits fifth in the Cup Series points table with 73 points behind points leader Kyle Larson in the hunt for the regular season title.
