Former NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick recently shared his thoughts on the viral moment when Ricky Stenhouse Jr. punched Kyle Busch following the end of the 2024 All-Star Race earlier this year. Harvick criticized Stenhouse Jr. for his attire during the altercation with Busch and shared the latter's reaction.
Stenhouse Jr. pushed Kyle Busch into the wall on the first lap of the All-Star Race, which made Busch give a position away. However, in the second lap, Busch made contact with the #47 Chevrolet of Stenhouse Jr., sending him into the wall and ending his race after only two of 200 laps. Meanwhile, two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, who secured P10, was walking back to his trailer when Ricky Stenhouse Jr. confronted him and landed a punch on the RCR driver.
Kevin Harvick, on his Happy Hour podcast recently picked this moment as the most viral moment of the year. In conversation with his co-hosts Mamba Smith and Kaitlyn Vincie, Harvick said:
That moment, it's just one of those moments that was not like any other moment because of the fact that Ricky was locked into the racetrack and waiting behind the hauler in his swim trunks. I'm still not a fan of the shorts though" [0:37].
Vincie then asked whether Harvick if he shared about his opinion of Stenhouse Jr.'s shorts with the latter. Harvick responded,
I have, and he told me that I could basically go fly a kite. That's basically what he told me" [1:00].
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was fined a whopping $75,000 for breaching NASCAR's Code of Conduct, for his actions in the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.
Meanwhile, Kevin Harvick's former team Stewart Haas Racing has exited the sport following the end of the 2024 season. However, Gene Haas, who co-owned SHR has decided to remain in NASCAR in the form of a new team, called the Haas Factory Team, which will compete in both Cup and Xfinity Series.
Kevin Harvick & Co. divided over "craziest" finish as Austin Dillon's Richmond moment gets nod
RCR driver Austin Dillon wrecked two drivers right before crossing the finish line in P1 at Richmond Raceway earlier this year. The heavily disputed race-winning move raised concerns about Dillon's intentions and after a thorough investigation, NASCAR penalized Austin Dillon by taking his playoff eligibility, despite winning the race.
Kevin Harvick believes that while the finish was a "wrecking ball type of moment," it wasn't purely racing. He made a different choice and said,
"I picked Kyle Larson because I thought it was the most authentic. It was hardcore racing finish that we had out of the year. Suarez beating Blaney, huh, it was exciting but it was a Super Speedway. Stenhouse-Keselowski at Talladega Super Speedway.
"Austin Dillon, he won kind of a wrecking-ball-type moment. I picked Larson over Buescher just because of the fact I thought it was the most authentic."
Additionally, Austin Dillon faced penalties during the Martinsville race, the penultimate event of the season, for allegedly attempting to manipulate the race's outcome.
