Tony Stewart recently enjoyed the company of Kevin Harvick and his wife DeLana during the 16th race of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, part of the 'Countdown to the Championship.' Despite Stewart's early exit in Round One against Doug Kalitta, the Harvicks expressed their appreciation for the experience in Charlotte.
Since retiring from NASCAR after last season, finishing 13th in the overall standings, Kevin has transitioned to broadcasting duties at Fox Sports. With NBC Sports now handling NASCAR broadcasts, the 48-year-old has been getting more personal time.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception he and his wife received, Kevin Harvick shared a message on X, acknowledging Stewart's hospitality. He wrote:
"Fun day supporting @TonyStewart @NHRA @zMAXDragway !!"
Resharing her husband's post, DeLana Harvick wrote:
"Heart is full! Thank you @TonyStewart @LeahPruett_TF for all the hospitality!"
Tony Stewart has stepped in to compete as his wife Leah Pruett took maternity leave following their decision to expand their family last year. While Pruett has been quite successful in her NHRA career with 12 wins, Stewart is navigating through a challenging phase with a 16-race winless streak.
During the first elimination round, Stewart's performance included a run of 4.299 ET at 220.48 mph, though he fell short against Doug Kalitta’s 3.894 ET at 306.67 mph.
In the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series Standings, Tony Stewart is currently ranked seventh, having accumulated 2087 points, leaving him 94 points behind the leader, Justin Ashley.
Kevin Harvick shares insights on Denny Hamlin's dwindling chances for a championship this season
Amid Denny Hamlin's reputation as one of the most consistent drivers, his performance has dipped since the beginning of the 2024 NASCAR playoffs. With underwhelming finishes of P24 and P23 at Atlanta and Watkins Glen, respectively, the #11 showed a glimpse of his potential by finishing fourth at Bristol after starting eighth. He secured his spot in the Round of 12.
Talking about Hamlin's performance during an episode of 'Harvick's Happy Hour,' Kevin Harvick remarked:
"The thing about Denny has always seemed that he's handled [pressure well]. He's got a lot of things that he can handle well off the racetrack. And still get in the car and perform. But he's never gotten to the point of being able to handle it well and win a championship." [at 14:25]
"That's the part I really thought was gonna be different this year. But when we went to the very first freaking [playoff] race, we're right back into questioning that," Kevin Harvick added.
In addition to the on-track challenges, Hamlin is currently entangled in charter negotiations with NASCAR, which could influence his performance during the crucial playoff races.
