Kevin Harvick once praised Kyle Larson as the best driver
Former Stewart-Haas Racing driver once praised Kyle Larson’s exceptional talent and versatility as a driver, drawing a direct comparison to Jeff Gordon, who's regarded as one of NASCAR’s greatest drivers.
Seven years ago, speaking on the Happy Hour podcast, Harvick pointed out Larson’s potential after he won the second career Cup win at Auto Club Speedway in 2017.
“Kyle Larson is the best driver to come into this sport since Jeff Gordon, in my opinion. I think Kyle Larson is that good. And he’s just a kid that not enough people know about – but he has won and wins in everything he’s ever driven. He’s just a racer,” Harvick said.
“He’s that good. I hope Ganassi has a good contract with him – because every team in the garage wants a Kyle Larson. He’s a guy you can put in your race cars and win races. Even on a day when your race car is not that good, he’s going to make you look good.” Harvick added [0:46 onwards]
Kyle Larson wrapped up the 2024 NASCAR season with a fourth-place finish at Phoenix Raceway. He finished the season in sixth place in the Cup Series championship standings, tallying six wins, 15 top-five finishes and 18 top-10 finishes with an average of 12.9 in 36 races.
