Kevin Harvick has been spending time with his family amid the NASCAR off-season. His latest outing was with his son Keelan for a Charlotte Checkers home game where fans welcomed them with roaring cheers.
Harvick is a former NASCAR driver who drove for Richard Childress Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing in the premier series. Today, the 49-year-old co-owns the Charlotte Checkers under the Zawyer Sports & Entertainment group.
Per Instagram, Kevin Harvick shared walking to the ice hockey rink with his son while fans cheered on the team.
After the game, the Charlotte Checkers defeated the Bridgeport Islanders 6-2. The victory marked the home team's fifth consecutive win, its longest streak in the season.
Notably, the game witnessed the Checkers' Neon Night jersey auction raising $38,204 for the Kevin Harvick Foundation. The former driver's charitable organization aims to support the dreams and ambitions of underprivileged youth.
The Charlotte Checkers will go up against the Bridgeport Islanders again on Sunday, December 22.
For the uninitiated, the Checkers are a professional ice hockey team serving as the AHL (American Hockey League) affiliate of the Florida Panthers of the NHL (National Hockey League).
Aside from the AHL team, Harvick has been covering NASCAR with the Happy Hour podcast on Fox. The Californian joined the podcast after retiring from the stock car racing league in 2023.
Harvick concluded his career with 60 race wins and one championship title (2014) in the premier series.
Kevin Harvick's wife DeLana reacted to son's handshake with NFL star
Last week, Kevin Harvick attended an NFL (National Football League) game with his son Keelan. But perhaps his highlight of the game was seeing Keelan do a handshake with Carolina Panthers star Sam Franklin Jr., which caught the attention of DeLana Harvick.
The NFL took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the handshake between the two.
"Sam Franklin Jr. has an incredible handshake with this young fan," the NFL wrote.
Harvick could be seen on the side smiling over his son's moment with the NFL star.
In response, DeLana, Kevin Harvick's wife, reacted with one red heart emoji.
Unfortunately, the Dallas Cowboys defeated the home team Carolina Panthers 30-14, with Sam Franklin Jr. (#42) recording one solo tackle.
As Kevin and Keelan Harvick watch American sports games, the 12-year-old continues to climb the racing ranks. He made his racing debut in a go-kart in 2020. Since then, the young driver won several championships in racing series like USPKS National Micro and U.S. Legend Cars.
Keelan recently debuted in a Limited Late Model race at Florence Motor Speedway driving his father's No. 62 Hunt Brothers Pizza Chevrolet. He finished eighth in the South Carolina 400 Limited Late Model race.
Harvick's son is expected to run a busy schedule next year, including an entry in select Pro Late Model events with Rackley W.A.R.
