The incident between Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin was one of the highlighted moments of the recently concluded NASCAR crown jewel Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A video of contact with Hamlin from Busch’s in-car camera went viral, which has sparked a lot of discussion among fans.
The footage shows racing with his former Joe Gibbs Racing teammate for fifth position with three laps to go. Kyle Busch made an aggressive move into Turn 3 low, which didn’t go as planned and resulted in a contact with the #11 car. As a result, Bucch’s #8 spun and hit the outside wall.
As the footage circulated on the internet, fans reacted strongly to Kyle Busch trying to pass Denny Hamlin, with some suggesting that Busch was in “self-sabotage mode." Some taunted him, saying “he let his ego win” instead of a good finish.

“KFB is in self-sabotage mode”
“Dude could've just gotten a good finish but he let his ego win out like he always does and got wrecked. His team sounds as checked out with him as he does with them. This whole group is a mess.” Another fan wrote.
“We need to finish here” Busch the next turn: IMA JUST CRASH IT” a third fan commented.
“Tells him we need to finish, he wrecks the car, then acts like he always does when asked about fixing it, and swerves at Hamlin after he's wrecked hard. The man has never changed one bit,” another user added.
“It sucks that you had to be at least 2 seconds a lap faster than the car in front to have a chance at passing.” A fifth user wrote.
“He's Toast! #Done !” commented another fan.
NASCAR veteran shares his views on Kyle Busch late race contact with Denny Hamlin at Indianapolis
The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion was in a position to earn a much-needed top-10 finish. But the string of poor finishes continues for the #8 Richard Childress Racing at Indianapolis.
On his “Happy Hour podcast," Kevin Harvick addressed Kyle Busch’s late-race wreck. Harvick admitted that there have been situations this season where Busch was innocent but believes this wreck is entirely Busch’s fault.
"I feel like Kyle is driving way over his head. His cars have been off the pace on certain weeks, but in this scenario, he's passing Denny Hamlin; he's in the top five, and just way overdrives the corner, driving into the side of Hamlin and wrecks himself. He’s been in scenarios where it hasn’t been his fault, but this one is 100% on him,” Harvick said. [23:25].
