Kurt Busch seems to be enjoying the offseason to the fullest. However, whatever the retired NASCAR driver is doing these days, he has his girlfriend Lyda Moore by his side.
Just a week ago, Busch took Lyda to watch a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Carolina Panthers at the Bank of America Stadium. Most recently, he and Lyda took a trip to Disneyland, a place known to bring out the child in a grown man. Safe to say, Busch was no exception.
He posted a video montage of photographs from the day on X (formerly known as Twitter), with the following caption:
“Warning! Here comes my Disneyland photo dump I haven’t been here since I was 12yr old. Thanks @Disneyland we had a blast!”
Busch has been married and divorced twice. Currently, he is in a relationship with Lyda Moore, a medical aesthetician at Laser Skin Couture in San Francisco, California.
The 2004 Cup Series champion and 2017 Daytona 500 winner is currently a consultant with 23XI Racing, a two-car team that currently operates full-time in the Cup Series and is owned by Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin and former NBA star Michael Jordan. Besides his duties with the team, Busch also serves as the brand ambassador for Monster Energy.
The last time he drove a stock car was on July 23, 2022, during a practice session at Pocono Raceway. He suffered a crash that day, which left him with a career-ending concussion. Busch knew he didn’t have it in himself to be competitive anymore and announced his retirement at Daytona International Speedway in August 2023.
Kurt Busch on the closure of his old NASCAR team
Kurt Busch is known to have driven for several big-shot teams in NASCAR and Stewart-Haas Racing was one of them. Following a year-long stint with Furniture Row Racing, Busch joined Tony Stewart’s organization in 2014. He amassed six wins, 11 poles, 37 top-5s, and 90 top-10s throughout his stay at SHR.
Although Busch left the team in 2019 to be replaced by Daniel Suarez behind the wheel of the No. 41 car, he still remembers his tenure at Stewart-Haas Racing, mostly for the good memories and the best people. Sadly, the team officially closed all operations as the 2024 season ended.
Reflecting on the same, Busch posted,
“Sad to see @StewartHaasRcng close its doors. So many great memories, and good people. Together, we made a winning culture right away!”
Gene Haas, Stewart’s partner at SHR, retained one of the team’s charters and founded a brand new team known as the Haas Factory Team. The North Carolina-based outfit will compete at the Cup and Xfinity levels and is expected to debut in 2025.
Tony Stewart, on the other hand, is getting ready for his second straight season in the NHRA, driving his wife Leah Pruett’s Top Fuel dragster under the banner of Tony Stewart Racing. The former Cup Series champion closed his rookie season 20th on points.
