It turns out Kyle Busch won a race in 2024 after all as he picked up a win in the Wing Micro Sprint championship at the Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion reflected on how the win made him feel in a recent social media post.
The 63-time Cup Series winner posted photos of himself, his wife, Samantha, and their son, Brexton, in victory lane from the event. The Las Vegas native made his feelings known that he was elated to get back to victory lane, but added that he enjoyed racing with his son in the process. He wrote:
"I did win something in 2024, the Wing Micro championship at Millbridge. And it made me feel great!!🤣🤣 Jokes aside I had fun racing with Brex on Wednesday, and can’t wait to do more of that this summer. Thanks to @lucasoilproducts, @d1chassis, @factorykahne, Lineman, and Guhl for everything!"
Busch forgot to mention, however, that he did pick up two victories in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series in 2024 at Atlanta and Texas. Yet, for the first time in his 20-year Cup Series career, Busch went winless in the 2024 campaign. He also missed out on the playoffs for the first time since 2012 and tied a career-low finish in the standings of 20th.
The 2024 season was Busch's second year behind the wheel of the #8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. The year prior, Busch notched three wins in his debut season at RCR and made the playoffs, but was eliminated in the second round.
The bulk of Busch's career was spent with Joe Gibbs Racing behind the wheel of the #18 machine. From 2008-2022, Busch tallied 56 wins and two championships in 2015 and 2019 with JGR. Kyle Busch's first three years in Cup was spent behind the wheel of the #5 Hendrick Motorsports machine, where he won four races.
Kyle Busch's son Brexton earned 'biggest moment' of his career with Tulsa Shootout win
While Kyle Busch will look to get his NASCAR Cup Series career back on track in 2025, his son, Brexton, is off to an incredible start to the year in his own right. The nine-year-old secured a victory in the Junior Sprint A-Main of the 2025 Tulsa Shootout to earn a Golden Digger trophy.
The elder Busch penned a message on Instagram while sharing some of the photos from the event to express how proud he was of his son. Kyle Busch wrote:
"24 hours later, and I still couldn’t be more proud of @brextonbusch. Biggest moment of his career and he drove a perfect race. All the hard work he and the guys put in all year paid off. Just a really proud dad right now."
Brexton held off runner-up finisher Jax Whittmer to claim the win, while Owen Larson, son of 2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson, finished sixth in the event.
