Kyle Busch is currently soaking up the Italian sun during the NASCAR Olympic break, a much-needed getaway with his family. While his wife Samantha was thrilled to visit Italy — a nod to her father's roots — Kyle was looking for a breather from what has been a challenging season on the tracks.
After the Brickyard 400, the Richard Childress Racing driver expressed his feelings on X/Twitter, writing:
"Got right where we wanted to b w a good car and some really good pit calls. I’m really sorry to all my guys and RCR for crashing while trying to b aggressive and get them a top-5 finish. Ready for this two wk break. Really need it."
Amid his vacation, Kyle Busch hasn't forgotten his fans. He's been active on social media, sharing snapshots of his time in Italy. He took to X to share a few pictures alongside his wife Samantha and their children Brexton and Lennix, giving everyone a peek into their family moments. He captioned the post:
"Enjoying the time off in Italy w the fam! Historic sights, and tasty food!🏟️😋"
Adding to their adventures, the couple took a trip to the Colosseum, an iconic testament to ancient Roman engineering, famed for its historic gladiatorial showdowns.
Although they are enjoying the sights and sounds of Italy, Samantha Busch shared a video on their first day in the country, revealing that the Busch family was running on fumes. Due to their daughter struggling to sleep during the seven-hour flight, Samantha barely managed an hour of rest herself, leaving her feeling "disoriented."
Kyle Busch's wife Samantha Busch visits her father's childhood home in Rome
Kyle Busch's wife recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting her father's childhood home in Rome. She captured the moment with her grandparents, lovingly referred to as Nonno and Nonnie, in front of an old door steeped in family history.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Samantha shared her experience on Instagram, posting a photo with her grandparents and reflecting on her father’s stories from his youth. She wrote:
"So surreal knowing he was born here. My pops was really sick when he was little and he said Nonno and Nonnie made a trip to the Vatican to say a prayer for him. Amazing getting to see and learn all of this I have always heard the story but to actually get to be here is incredible."
Meanwhile, Kyle Busch is making the most of the NASCAR Olympic break, recharging before he returns to the track for the last four races of the season, starting with Richmond. The #8 Richard Childress Racing driver currently sits in the 18th position in the standings with 440 points, 29 shy of the top-16 cutoff.
Kyle Busch has a shot at the playoffs, having previously won on three of the four tracks lined up for the upcoming races, with Daytona being the only exception. If his car delivers the necessary speed, his chances of making it to the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs remain strong.
