After the Nashville Setback, Kyle Busch has revealed his plans to compete at the Oxford Plains Speedway. The Richard Childress Racing has revisited his roots this week to compete in the Super Late Model races.
Kyle Busch's past Cup Series weekends have ended on a disappointing note. The two-time Cup champion succumbed to two consecutive DNFs at the Iowa Speedway and the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Moreover, the RCR driver's zero wins and multiple destroyed outings have jeopardized his playoff chances.
Busch had a shot at a potentially promising outcome on the Nashville Superspeedway as he found himself among the frontrunners during the late-race overtimes. However, during the third overtime restart, he was clipped between the Hendrick Motorsports duo of Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott.
Kyle Busch was between the two HMS drivers when Larson's throttle didn't respond and Elliott's did. As a result, the #8 Chevy got stuck behind the #5, wrecked in the rear by the #9 Chevy, and spun out for his third consecutive DNF.
After another disappointing weekend, the 39-year-old took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared that he would be revisiting his roots for some Super Late Model racing.
Before entering NASCAR, the Nevada native proved his finesse in the late models and dominated the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring short-track 10 times in a single season.
Kyle Busch plans to "beat everyone" at Oxford Plains Speedway
Kyle Busch hasn't been able to collect a win in the current Cup Series season so far and only seven races are left before the Round of 16 roster is set. However, ahead of his Super Late Model run, he outlined his desire to outperform his rivals. Whether at the Oxford Plains Speedway or the Daytona International Speedway, the veteran driver aims to win it all.
The 2011 Oxford 250 winner weighed in on extracting a win "everywhere" he goes, saying,
"I love the grassroots racing, always have, always have been back into the late models. I’ve been doing it a little bit more these days with Brexton Busch, my son, racing in the micros and bandoleros, things like that," Busch said via Centralmaine.
“It’s still a competition, you want to go out there and win. You want to beat everyone everywhere you go, whether it’s Oxford, Maine, or the Daytona 500. That’s the main aspect of it,” he added.
The Celebration of America 300 will comprise two nights of action-packed racing followed by the 300-lap dash today, with the winner taking home a $40,000 paycheck. Tuesday included two qualifying stints for PASS Super Late Models, the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) features, Mad Bombers, and Limiteds.
Around 50 teams signed up for battling at the Oxford Plains including two Cup Series drivers- Kyle Busch and Daniel Hemric. Today's event will kick off at 4 PM ET and will comprise the 100-lap NESS Feature with $10,000 prize money followed by the PASS SLM Feature having $40,000 for the winner.
