Kyle Busch's son, Brexton, expressed excitement over his karting race this weekend. Without looking, Brexton drew the Trackhouse Motorplex, where he will race in a kart for the first time.
Busch is a veteran NASCAR driver signed with Richard Childress Racing. His son, Brexton, is also a racecar driver climbing the racing ranks. He will make his karting debut at the said track following his win at the Micro Sprint championship last month.
In an Instagram post, Brexton posted his drawing next to the actual full course track layout on a laptop. With an accurate depiction of the track, the young driver claimed he knew the track pretty well.
"I drew Trackhouse Motorplex without looking. Safe to say I know the track pretty well! Excited for my first race there in a kart this weekend!!" Brexton Busch wrote.
The Trackhouse Motorplex is a 0.7-mile, 11-turn track located in Mooresville, North Carolina. As the name suggests, the track is owned by Trackhouse Entertainment Group, which runs the Trackhouse Racing team in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Brexton Busch will participate in the track's Karting Challenge on Sunday.
In addition, Brexton and his father Kyle will race alongside each other at the Tulsa Shootout from December 31 to January 4. A few weeks later, Kyle will run in the 39th Chili Bowl Nationals, which would mark his debut in the so-called "Super Bowl of Midget Racing."
Kyle Busch's son aims to drive in the NASCAR Truck Series by age 16
Kyle Busch shared the plans for his nine-year-old son Brexton's racing career. The No. 8 Chevrolet pilot believes his son could start competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series by age 16.
Speaking with NASCAR insider Jeff Gluck, Busch said Brexton will run Legend cars next year.
“When he turns 10, he can run Legend cars, so we’ll add that in next May. And then at 12, you’re allowed to run the CARS Tour Pro Late Models. So he’ll probably get into some of that at 12,” Busch said.
The 39-year-old NASCAR driver also added karting to his son's racing schedule to improve his skills on road courses. He tapped former Hendrick Motorsports crew chief Greg Ives and former F1 driver Max Papis for Brexton's karting program, which will commence this weekend.
He continued by saying:
“I want to keep him on the dirt and asphalt realm, I don’t feel like you should go one way or the other. I like what we’re doing right now, he gets in his Bandolero car and he knows what he’s got to do on pavement, he gets into his dirt car and he knows what he’s got to do on dirt. So I really like that. We’ll probably stick with some of that mixture. And then by 16, he’ll be ready for some Trucks.”
With the drivers spending time away from the track this off-season, Kyle Busch should be able to look after Brexton's racing schedule. Busch concluded the 2024 Cup Series season with five top-5 and 10 top-10 finishes.
