Kyle Busch's wife, Samantha, has expressed her heartbreak over a challenging season for the Richard Childress Racing driver in a candid Instagram story. She shared her frustrations about the events unfolding this year.
The race day (July 14) for Kyle Busch started off on a rough note when his #8 Chevy was hastily removed from the starting grid due to an urgent oil leak repair just before the NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway kicked off.
And then in the race, with just 40 laps to go, as the drivers jostled for position, Corey LaJoie's contact with Kyle Busch caused the #8 Chevy to lose control, careening through the infield grass and re-entering the track, where it collided with the cars of AJ Allmendinger, Harrison Burton, Ryan Preece, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. This incident added to the series of setbacks that have marred the driver's season.
Sharing a picture of the wreck Samantha Busch wrote on her Instagram story:
"What do you even say. This year has been heartbreaking."

Kyle Busch's 2024 season has been a series of unfortunate events, turning into what might be considered his worst 41-race winless streak ever. Whether it’s failing to finish races, lacking speed, pit crew errors, or his own mistakes, nothing has gone right for him this year. The troubling trend continued at the Pocono race.
During what has become the longest winless streak of his Cup Series career, Kyle Busch's hopes for a playoff spot took another hit after he finished 32nd at Pocono. Taking a diplomatic approach, Busch thanked his sponsors when asked about the incident with LaJoie. However, when pressed further, he summed it up by saying [via NASCAR]:
“That’s just racing these days. It’s what happens.”
Corey LaJoie defends himself after ruining Kyle Busch's day
Corey LaJoie stood his ground after a race incident with Kyle Busch tarnished their days at the track. Despite finishing 19th, LaJoie asserted in his post-race interview that he wouldn't have handled the situation any differently if given another chance. With only five races left in the regular season, Busch now finds himself 102 points outside the playoff cutoff, a slight increase from his 98-point deficit before the race.
LaJoie maintained that the collision wasn't deliberate. He said [via NASCAR]:
“I think Kyle and I have been racing around each other long enough, we’re not going to smash into each other on purpose. We both are guys that feel like we belong, certainly him, but I mean, I’m not going to say sorry. I’m not sorry about it, because that was the thing. If the shoe was on the other foot, the exact same thing would’ve happened, and I think he would probably say that.”
"I’m sure he’s mad. I’m sure there were guys that got caught up that was made, but I didn’t feel like it was a bonehead move. I had a run, I got to the left rear, he blocked it twice, and the second time it spun his a** out."
Now, the only path left for Kyle Busch to make the playoffs is to secure a victory in one of the upcoming five races.
