Hendrick Motorsports, alongside Kyle Larson, reportedly plans on organizing a joint press conference with Arrow McLaren at Charlotte Motor Speedway's road course, slated for the second week of October. Taylor Kitchen from TobyChristie.com updated the NASCAR enthusiasts about those expected to attend the conference.

Kitchen shared the news on her official X handle, stating:

"📰 #NASCAR: On Tuesday, @TeamHendrick and @ArrowMcLaren will host a joint press conference at @CLTMotorSpdwy , where the teams will make a special announcement."

She added more details to her initial post about the event:

"Those expected to attend: Kyle Larson, Jeff Gordon, Rick Hendrick, Zak Brown, and Tony Kanaan will be present."

The forthcoming announcement is expected to reveal that Kyle Larson will participate in the Indy 500 next year as well. Following his unsuccessful attempt this year to complete the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on the same day, the #5 driver expressed a keen interest in tackling the same challenge next year.

The deal between Kyle Larson and Hendrick Motorsports, with Arrow McLaren Racing, was already for two years. Yet, 2025 was designated as an optional year. Larson recently mentioned that talks for 2025 are ongoing. He shared his take on his next year's Indy 500 endeavor, as per ESPN, saying,

"I would love to. We're still working on it. It's progressing. So I like that, but obviously, things can always change."

This year though, his attempt sparked controversy when NASCAR hesitated to immediately grant Larson a waiver after he opted to compete in the Indy 500. All drivers must participate in every regular season race to qualify for the playoffs, and Larson had already secured wins at Las Vegas and Kansas by that point. The lack of a waiver would have jeopardized his playoff eligibility.

Although there was debate among NASCAR insiders about the fairness of granting him a waiver due to his decision to choose the Indy 500 over the Charlotte race, NASCAR ultimately did grant it. However, Rick Hendrick could be hesitant to agree to another Indy 500 participation without a firm commitment from NASCAR regarding future waivers.

Kyle Larson suffers an early exit in the first race of the playoff at Atlanta

In the initial stages of the race, Kyle Larson's vehicle lost control between turns 1 and 2, slamming into the outer Safer barrier. Chase Briscoe, trailing closely and unable to slow down in time, rear-ended Larson's car.

The mishap, unfolding merely 56 laps into the race, severely damaged both cars, compelling them to exit the race ahead of schedule. Larson concluded the race in P37 place, and Briscoe followed in P38—the last position.

Though Larson emerged uninjured from the incident, he expressed uncertainty about the cause, noting,

"That was a huge hit. I’m not really sure, like, what caused it. I was actually sort of like tight loaded in the corner. That was pretty far out the corner and stepped out. I don’t know. It just all happened really fast."

Looking ahead, Larson will compete at Watkins Glen, where he boasts an average finish of 12.2 across nine appearances.
