As NASCAR returns to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400 event on July 21, Kyle Larson is set to finally drive the #5 Chevy Camaro with the McLaren orange paint scheme. This special livery was last seen at the Coca-Cola 600 event, where Larson was supposed to complete his Memorial Day Double but couldn't.

On May 26, Hendrick Motorsports driver Larson planned to attempt the historic Indy500-Coke600 double and become the fifth driver to do so. However, his debut run at the Indy500 event was delayed due to severe weather conditions. Thus, preventing him from starting the Cup Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Additionally, due to heavy rains, the Coke600 race was called off by NASCAR officials and the 31-year-old couldn't relieve the substitute driver.

However, as the 2021 Cup Series champion returns to the 2.5-mile asphalt track, Hendrick Motorsports announced the paint scheme for Larson's Chevy Camaro.

Here's a sneak peek of Larson's #5:

"Look who's back" Hendrick Motorsports captioned it.

Moreover, Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass recently shared the full picture of Larson's car at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

"Kyle Larson never got to race the paint scheme with the McLaren orange at Charlotte. It is back for Indy" Pockrass wrote.

After three years, NASCAR returns to the rectangular oval track. Hendrick Motorsports' vice chairman and former HMS driver Jeff Gordon has the most wins (5) here in the Cup Series history. Meanwhile, #5 Larson who made history at Indianapolis earlier this year is looking to capitalize on Sunday.

"I'll have a different perspective" - Kyle Larson on returning to Indianapolis

Kyle Larson is currently one of the top contenders for the 2024 Championship. He has amassed three wins this season for Hendrick Motorsports.

In a recent conversation with Bob Pockrass, Larson shared his thoughts for the 22nd race of the regular Cup season at Indianapolis and how his previous Indy500 experience supposedly won't hinder his performance. He said:

"I think I stay so busy with different races and stuff, you know, I don't know when I move past the race, I kind of move on from it."

Furthermore, Larson explained:

"So, leaning into this week to this point, I haven't really had any thoughts about the 500, and what that's going to mean for this week or if I'll have a different perspective when I get there or anything like that."

Larson now stands P2 in the points standings with 700 points, 3 points behind his HMS teammate Chase Elliott. As drivers and teams get closer to the 2024 playoff rounds, Larson is eyeing the regular season championship followed by the 2024 Cup Series championship title.
