The last Round of 16 race at the Bristol Motor Speedway was a Kyle Larson overkill. Besides delivering a clean slate win and advancing to the next round of the playoffs, the Hendrick Motorsports icon dominated the 0.533-mile racetrack in a way nobody could do in almost half a century.

According to a recent post by Trey Ryan, a popular statistics individual on X, formerly known as Twitter, Kyle Larson led the most laps at Bristol Motor Speedway since the legendary Cale Yarborough in 1977, which was more than 47 years ago. Here is what Ryan wrote in his post:

"Kyle Larson has now led more than 426 at Bristol tonight."
"This is the most dominant Bristol performance since Cale Yarborough led 495 laps more than 47 YEARS AGO (1977)."

Larson swept all three stages and led 462 laps of the 500-lap event, en route to his fifth win of the season and the 28th of his NASCAR Cup Series career. His teammates, Chase Elliott, Alex Bowman and William Byron, too, made the Round of 12. Elliott and Bowman were the only other Hendrick Motorsports drivers to finish inside the top-10.

The drivers will now prepare for next week's (September 29) race at Kansas Speedway. The 267-lap race will start from 3 PM ET onwards, and stream live on NBC Sports and USA. Fans can listen to radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

"Just a phenomenal car"- Kyle Larson reflects on his dominant Bristol win

During a post-race interview reported by Motorsport, Kyle Larson lauded the No. 5 team for bringing out a fast Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 during practice as well as on race day. Flaunting the colors of his sponsor HendrickCars.com, the Elk Grove native qualified second, while Bowman took the pole.

"Practice was good," Larson said. "We had to qualify good. We did that. Just had a great car so thanks to the whole No. 5 team. They are the best in the business. We dominate a lot of races but we might not close them all out, so it was really good to close one out here. Just a phenomenal car."

Following Sunday's race, Larson advanced to the lead (as per the playoff picture) with a 39 point advantage on the elimination cutline. He celebrated his win with a victory lap, while his nine-year-old son, Owen, hung out of the window of his car.

"I've had a lot of good cars since I've come to Hendrick Motorsports so it's tough to say (if it's his best car), but man that was just great execution by the team all weekend," Larson added.

Elliott finished over seven seconds behind Larson. Bubba Wallace, who finished third, was the only non-playoff driver to finish in the top 3. Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, Ryan Preece, Chase Briscoe, Alex Bowman and Ross Chastain complete the remainder of the Top 10
