2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson's former Cup Series team, Chip Ganassi Racing, recently downsized its IndyCar and IMSA Series operations. As a result of this downsizing, the team has decided to reduce its inventory and has announced a garage sale on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at their Indianapolis shop from seven in the morning to noon.

Larson made his NASCAR Cup Series debut racing under Chip Ganassi Racing in 2014 and competed for the team until 2020. He amassed six wins in his seven-year stint with the team, driving the #42 Chevy. Additionally, he secured 56 top-five and 101 top-ten finishes. In 2021 Larson joined Hendrick Motorsports.

Larson's former Cup Series team's garage sale will feature a stockpile of spare parts, crew clothing, driver gear, and race-used components stored in the inventory for decades.

“CGR will sell a variety of one-of-a-kind items from cars and drivers over the last 10-15 years. Items for sale include driver firesuits, select bodywork from its race cars including wings and sidepods, pit crew helmets and more,” the team wrote. (via Racer.com)

The team will also hold a charitable event at their garage sale. CGR has teamed up with the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis and aims to hand out toys to children in need to keep the spirit of giving alive ahead of Christmas. Larson's former team is also encouraging fans to promote the event. Those who donate unwrapped toys will receive CGR trading cards from 2023 to 2024, while supplies last.

"I hope Chip Ganassi has a good contract with him": When Kevin Harvick called Kyle Larson the 'best driver' since Jeff Gordon's retirement

2014 Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick was impressed by Kyle Larson's performance during his time with Chip Ganassi Racing. Harvick noted how every team in the series wanted him to drive for them.

While speaking on his "Happy Hour" podcast, Harvick pointed out that Larson has won in every car that he has driven and compared him to former four-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon. Harvick stated:

"Kyle Larson is the best driver to come into this sport since Jeff Gordon, in my opinion. I think Kyle Larson is that good. And he’s just a kid that not enough people know about—but he has won and wins in everything he’s ever driven. He’s just a racer." (0:01 onwards)

Further, Harvick commented on Kyle Larson and his former team:

"He’s that good. I hope Ganassi has a good contract with him because every team in the garage wants a Kyle Larson. He’s a guy you can put in your race cars and win races. Even on a day when your race car is not that good, he’s going to make you look good." (0:46 onwards)

However, after a seven-year stint, CGR parted ways with Larson in 2020 after NASCAR banned him for using a slur.

Later that year, 'Yung Money' signed a deal with Hendrick Motorsports and won a championship in his very first year under the HMS banner.
