Legendary NASCAR driver Kyle Larson has praised his new Hendrick Motorsports teammate Corey Day in an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. He likened the teenager to a driver similar to himself in aggression and style.

Day, one of the most versatile young drivers in NASCAR, hails from a racing family where his father Ronnie Day was a standout performer in sprint car racing. In 2023, he became the youngest driver to win the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway. At 19, Day has already made waves in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and USAC National Midget Series leading him to be signed by Rick Hendrick for Hendrick Motorsports to run partial in 2025 Xfinity schedule.

Kyle Larson called Corey Day one of the rising talents in NASCAR and said:

"He is definitely, in my opinion, of guys who haven't made it to the three series in NASCAR yet, He's definitely the best prospect out there."

Larson likened Day to be similar to him in driving style, adding:

"I have gotten the chance to race with him and first hand see how good he is and he's probably the only one that I feel like I have raced with, I feel looks like me almost out there. Same driving style and very versatile. Can hop in anything and figure it out."

Larson is glad Day joined Hendrick Motorsports because of the opportunity the young driver would receive.

"I feel like he is doing to do a great job. When you are at Hendrick Motorsports you are given a great opportunity to showcase your ability so he is going to have a lot of fun this year and will be gaining experience and hopefully, he can show the world how good I know he is," he said.

Larson, one of the most versatile and talented drivers in NASCAR history, won the NASCAR Cup Series Championship with 10 race wins including a famous win at the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2021.

Rick Hendrick praised Corey Day’s talent after multi-year signing, mentioning Kyle Larson and Jeff Gordon's endorsement

Team owner Rick Hendrick expressed his gratitude to vice-president Jeff Gordon for his efforts in finalizing the deal with Corey Day. He also acknowledged the valuable contribution of current Hendrick driver Kyle Larson.

Hendrick emphasized how Gordon and Larson played key roles in making the partnership with Day possible. In a press release, the 75-year-old said:

"When Kyle Larson and Jeff Gordon say someone is the real deal, it certainly gets your attention...Corey comes from a great racing family and in a short time has shown a level of talent that sets him apart. What he’s already accomplished at this point in his career speaks volumes, and it’s been impressive to see how quickly he’s adapted to pavement. We’re excited to welcome him to our team."

Day will participate in nearly 30 pavement events this year across various series, including the Xfinity Series, Truck Series, ARCA Series, and Trans Am Series.
