Daniel Suarez has shed light on his conversation with Kyle Larson after the duo got wrecked at Iowa Speedway. While trying to pass through the small gap on the turn, the Hendrick Motorsports driver crashed out of contention.

Kyle Larson entered the 0.875-mile track with three wins so far in his arsenal and stood the fastest during Saturday's qualifying run. After setting the stage for his dominance during the 350-lap dash, the #5 Chevy finished Stage 1 in second place and bagged the second-stage win.

However, a few moments later on Lap 220, the HMS driver tried to swoop from the middle lane while turning through the corner. But the repavement job, which left the corners quite bumpy, contributed to Kyle Larson's misery. While going three wide, with Daniel Suarez on the inside and Brad Keselowski on the outside, the #5 Chevrolet came extremely close to the Trackhouse Racing driver and eventually got nudged from the left rear.

As a result, the 2021 Cup Series champion spun out, lost the lead, and rounded up a dismal 35th-place finish. Furthermore, the contact briefly slowed down the #99 Chevy and it lost a couple of track positions and finished ninth.

After the fateful race, Kyle Larson chatted with Suarez about the final stage incident. Per the Mexican, the HMS driver took some "blame" despite being at the receiving end of misery.

"He (Kyle Larson) took some blame in the situation. I take some blame as well, I'm the one that made contact with him. But he also squeezed himself in the tight situation there in the second half of the corner," the #99 driver said via Dustin Long on X (0.05).
"The #6 car [Brad Keselowski's] had some gap to the wall, the #5 car had some gap to the #6, so I was expecting those two cars to go a little bit higher and they didn't obviously," Suarez added.

Kyle Larson weighed in on his Iowa weekend which "ended up biting" him

The current season has witnessed Kyle Larson's supremacy from the beginning. The Californian has raked in three wins, seven top-5s, and eight top-10s from 16 races so far. Despite missing out on the highest-points-paying race, the Coca-Cola 600, he retained his first place in the standings until his P10 finish at the next run at the Gateway Motorsports Park dethroned him as the leader.

After his Sonoma win and resurrection as the #1 driver in the standings, Kyle Larson dominated the Iowa Speedway and inched closer to another victory. With runner-up position in Stage 1, first place in Stage 2, and driving sixth with nearly 130 laps left, the HMS driver was in a comfortable position to progress and lead the pack. But that didn't happen and he got wrecked out after leading 80 laps.

Kyle Larson admitted had he been more "patient," the crash and the resulting 35th-place finish might not have occurred.

"I could have not gone to the middle (lane) and been more patient knowing how fast my car was and knowing who I was around. I wanted to get as many cars as I could in the beginning of that run (from the back of the field). It probably just ended up biting me," Larson said via Bob Pockrass on X (0.05).

Per the latest rankings, Chase Elliott is at the top in the Cup Series rankings and leads by eight points over his teammate Larson in second place.
