NASCAR on NBC analyst Kyle Petty took to social media to share a trailer for a second season of a digital series that comes out this Thursday. The retired NASCAR driver's series is called SHIFT, which is a series of videos that captures the sport's evolution through the eyes of Richard Petty, a seven-time Cup Series champion.

In a post to his personal X account, the 64-year-old posted a 44-second sneak peek of the series, writing:

"Excited to share that SHIFT, my digital series with @nascar, is coming back for Season 2 with a new episode dropping this Thursday, October 3!"

The eight-time Cup Series winner also provided a YouTube link to previous episodes. The short videos that are no longer than five minutes are sit-down interviews with Richard as they take viewers through moments in time of his legendary racing career.

In one of the videos, titled "Richard Petty recalls NASCAR's 'perfect storm,'" the 87-year-old discusses his 1979 Daytona 500 win, a race that ended up being one of NASCAR's most significant races ever for being the first 500-mile race that saw flag-to-flag television coverage, along with the post-race fight that involved Cale Yarborough and the Allison brothers, Bobby and Donnie.

Another video from season one, titled "The countdown to Richard Petty's 200th NASCAR Cup Series win," the 200-time Cup Series winner walks viewers through the 1984 Firecracker 400 at Daytona, the race that saw him win that elusive 200th race. The race was significant, too, as then-POTUS Ronald Reagan gave the command to start the race. New episodes of Shift can be watched Thursday on NASCAR's official YouTube page.

The Petty family history in NASCAR

Before Richard Petty's historic run that extended through the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, his dad, Lee, won 54 NASCAR Cup Series races across the 1950s and 60s. The eldest Petty was a three-time Cup Series, formerly Grand National, champion in 1954, 1958, and 1959, and also won the inaugural Daytona 500 in 1959.

Richard is tied with the late Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jimmie Johnson for most Cup championships, seven, winning them in 1964, 1967, 1971, 1972, 1974, 1975, and 1979. His 200 Cup wins are the most of all-time, as well as his seven Daytona 500 victories.

Kyle Petty competed in over 800 Cup Series events and won eight races, with the final coming in 1995 at Dover. His son, Adam, was a young, up-and-coming driver who burst onto the scene in the late 1990s. Unfortunately, Adam was tragically killed in a practice crash at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in May of 2000, passing away at just 19 years old.

Today, Richard is still involved with NASCAR as a co-owner of Legacy Motor Club with Johnson. Richard formerly owned Richard Petty Motorsports, which operated from 2009 to 2021. Kyle Petty, meanwhile, continues to do analyst work for NBC, a position he's had since the NBC reboot in 2015.
