Recently, a lawsuit was filed against Rick Ware Racing after the team's authorities decided to remove Justin Haley from the team. The Concord-based team had agreed to a swap deal to bring Lajoie in as Haley's replacement. However, the lawsuit now stands dismissed.
The lawsuit was reportedly filed after the Rick Ware-owned team breached a sponsorship deal. As per the deal, RWR was supposed to have Justin Haley on the team for the next two years. However, with Haley leaving with immediate effect, the sponsor and the team could not agree on a suitable replacement, leading the sponsor to initiate legal action.
However, the lawsuit has been dismissed, as reported by Bob Pockrass. Here's what he wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"Coinciding with the Haley-LaJoie swap effective next week, a lawsuit filed against Rick Ware Racing last week over the Haley ride was dismissed this morning."
The Fox Sports journalist then explained the reasons that led to the lawsuit.
"Lawsuit in a nutshell was company (presumably related to Braun) agreed to pay RWR for 2 years to provide driver (expected to be Haley). Company makes money back by selling sponsorship for car. With Haley leaving, they couldn't agree on 2025 driver, so dispute on what was owed," he wrote.
Haley and Rick Ware Racing will part ways following the upcoming Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
How did the Justin Haley and Corey Lajoie swap work out with Rick Ware Racing and Spire Motorsport?
Spire Motorsports and Rick Ware Racing have recently agreed to swap Justin Haley and Corey LaJoie's respective rides for the 2025 season. Under the deal, Lajoie will take over Haley's #51 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, and Haley will drive the #7 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
The drivers will switch teams immediately, starting next week at Kansas, instead of waiting for the season to conclude. This means that Lajoie will drive his #7 Chevrolet for the last time on Saturday night's Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol, and vice versa.
After 28 races, Lajoie sits in 28th place with 414 points. Haley, meanwhile, is 32nd with 399 points. Neither driver has qualified for the NASCAR playoffs this season.
