Danica Patrick has been promoting the latest episode of her Pretty Intense Podcast Series. The former NASCAR driver sat down with her latest guest Orion Taraban, a licensed psychologist "specializing in relationships".
Patrick has invested over a decade of her life in motorsports. From Formula Vauxhall and British Formula Ford Championship to NASCAR and IndyCar, the Wisconsin native has amassed global popularity. After snapping up the 2008 Indy Japan 300 win, she became the first female driver to triumph in an IndyCar race.
After marking her final Cup Series race at the 2018 Daytona 500 for Premium Motorsports, the 42-year-old became NBC's studio analyst for Indy 500 races starting in 2019. The same year, she launched her podcast series "Pretty Intense" where guests including celebrities, musicians, entrepreneurs, and experts, talk about "life, ideas, and the topics that help realize [one's] true best self," as the podcast series is described.
Patrick's podcast's first episode was a conversation with American former professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez. Since then, her guests have included notable personalities like Jay Shetty, American astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Kyle Larson, and American politician Tulsi Gabbard, among others.
On August 8, her latest episode, the 250th in the series, with Orion Taraban was released. Taraban is a psychologist "specializing in relationships, personal development, and men's mental health". Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Patrick promoted her podcast, saying,
"Listen up ladies, relationship expert @OrionTaraban is spelling it out for us: why men cheat, what they want, why they get married, & so much more! Learn to navigate the current sexual marketplace. [...]#DatingAdvice"
The two discussed topics such as "what a man needs", "the struggles of modern relationships", and "why men fall in love".
"They want each other to be too many things" - Danica Patrick's guest talks about modern relationships
The licensed psychologist explained what he thinks are some of the issues in "modern relationships":
"Part of the reason why a lot of modern relationships are struggling is because men and women spend too much time together and they want each other to be too many things. For the vast majority of time that humans have lived on this planet, men have spent most of their days with another man and women have spent most of their days with another woman," Taraban said via Danica Patrick on YouTube (56:09).
"They sometimes come together at the end of the day, or once the men come back from the hunting party. So there's actually a great deal of separation that has historically and traditionally been in male and female relationships," he added.
Patrick has been in a few relationships during her time in motorsports. She has shared with the public details about her love life and the complications that led to breakups.
From 2005 to 2012, the former NASCAR driver was married to physical therapist Paul Edward Hospenthal. Following their divorce, Patrick started dating Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the couple calling it quits after five years. In January 2018, she confirmed her relationship with NFL star Aaron Rodgers but the two split in July 2020.
A year later in April 2021, Patrick announced her relationship with entrepreneur Carter Comstock. After nearly a year together, the duo went their separate ways in March 2022.
