Ford Performance recently handed one of its standout trucks to NASCAR Cup Series driver Harrison Burton on a temporary basis. Burton, who raced with Wood Brothers Racing in 2024 driving the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, has already been associated with the American automobile manufacturer, and their union just got stronger with Ford's latest action.
Burton signed up to race with AM Racing in 2025 as he is set to return to the Xfinity Series again. At AM, he will drive the Ford Mustang, extending his ties with Ford's company even more. Celebrating the tie, Ford Performance decided to hand him a truck ahead of the new season.
Announcing how he received the truck amid the off-season break, the #21 driver took to his official Instagram account to share the entire story. He uploaded two stories simultaneously, explaining everything around it. Here's what he said:
"What's going on everyone? It's Harrison here and wow, I got told by my good friends from Ford Performance that they would drop off a truck for me to try the next few days. Didn't really know what I was getting myself into. But what we have here is the Ford Performance Switchgear. It is an electric truck basically, built in collaboration with RTR, Ford Performance.
"But boy am I glad they did. Look at this massive handbrake, bucket seats, massive tires. This thing is insane. Look at these spare tires. So pretty ridiculous. I'm in my residential neighborhood with this truck and all my neighbors are coming out confused, asking what it is. Wow, what a truck and we're going to have it in the next few days fall on to enjoy with me."
He continued the same in the second story:
"So yeah, like I said, sitting in my residential neighborhood with a huge handbrake... Lots of eyeballs on me at the moment."
Here's a screen grab of Harrison Burton's Instagram story:
Burton completed his full-time racing this season with WBR after he finished the season in 16th place and qualified for the playoffs. He was one of six Ford drivers to have qualified for the playoffs after he won the 2024 Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona (his only win so far.)
The upcoming AM Racing driver finished the 2024 Cup Series season with a win, a Top 5 and two Top 10s. He led 13 laps and faced seven DNFs. The former WBR racing driver's average start position was 24.472 and his average finish position was 25.722.
Harrison Burton shared his feelings ahead of his AM Racing debut in 2025
Harrison Burton is all set to part ways with Wood Brothers Racing and Cup Series to join AM Racing in the Xfinity Series. Here's how he let his feelings known ahead of his NASCAR journey with a new team (via Forbes):
“I’m excited to join AM Racing and help build it into the race-winning race team I believe it can and will be. I think this will be a great opportunity for me to take the things I’ve learned in the Cup Series, bring those to the Xfinity Series and be the best driver I can be."
AM Racing earlier signed Hailie Deegan for the #15 car, but the latter parted ways with a few races left in 2024. Besides this, the team fielded some of the renowned Cup Series drivers earlier, such as Joey Logano, Josh Berry, Lawless Alan and Gus Dean.
